Keeper Class For LWOTC

Description
The Keeper is Denmother's class, from Iridar's Rescue Denmother mod, repurposed for Long War of the Chosen. Much like my Crasher class mod for Jane Kelly, Denmother's Keeper class is, by default, unique to her. Check out the main class tree here.[docs.google.com]. The Keeper now has 3 main rows in their ability tree, plus an XCOM row consisting of 4 decks, in addition to the pistol row. They can equip Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles or SMGs as their primary weapon, and a Sawed-Off Shotgun as their secondary.

The Keeper starts with the Trained Sniper, Point Blank and Grapple Gun abilities at Squaddie rank, and has 3 specializations in their main ability tree.
  • Overseer is an Overwatch-specialized build with emphasis on taking and holding a position with little to no support of squadmates. With defensive skills like Low Profile and Fortify, the enemy will not have an easy time gunning the Keeper down without flanking them.

  • Endless is all about versatility, particularly on long missions. It contains some abilities to make the Keeper better at using the Sawed-Off Shotgun, as well as keeping teammates supplied with ammo and healing.

  • No Eye In Team is the path to follow if you want your Keeper to be a pseudo-Officer (or to lead up to proper Officer training). It offers some mobility options and a plethora of abilities intended to support teammates, directly or indirectly, by helping them hit more accurately, hit harder, and hit more often.

Miscellanous Features:
  • This mod will change Denmother's default class to the LWOTC Keeper (template name LWS_Keeper) rather than her original Keeper class, done via this mod's XComDenmother.ini. You can comment that part out if you don't want that feature for whatever reason (trust me, you do want that feature).

  • Remember, the Keeper class does not show up as trainable in the GTS, nor does it show up on random recruited soldiers or promoted Rookies. You can change this if you want via this mod's XComClassData.ini. Due as well to its intention as a unique class, the Keeper has no unique callsigns (Denmother is always Denmother). You can add more in XComGame.int if you want. Don't ask me to do it for you, I'm busy.

  • Denmother's unique rifle's base damage is bumped up from vanilla Mag Rifle levels to LWOTC Mag Rifle levels (and similarly, environmental damage has been bumped down). It can also be sold for a decent price to the Black Market, since it's a unique gun no doubt coveted by collectors. This stuff can be changed in XComDenmotherRifle.ini.

  • Base stats have been nerfed compared to the original mod, particularly in terms of Aim. I didn't nerf them TOO hard; Keepers are still very solid in terms of HP and Aim growth.

  • The GTS unlock for the Keeper is disabled. It won't do anything for you anyway, since this mod disables the original Keeper class in favor of the LWOTC version. In other words, if for some reason it still appears in your game, do not buy.

Mod Requirements
  • In addition to the requirements listed on the side, Long War of the Chosen is required.[www.nexusmods.com] You could repurpose this version of the Keeper for use with regular WOTC, but at that point it'd be easier for you to just tweak Iridar's version of the class.

  • Rescue Denmother is required, as it adds a handful of new skills and the Supply Pack secondary weapon.

Known issues:
  • The Rescue Denmother mod has been updated, and it should work fine with LWOTC now. If Denmother doesn't spawn for you, you can add her to your barracks with the console command GiveDenmother.

Conflicts
  • There should be no conflicts to speak of.

Credits
  • Iridar for making the Rescue Denmother mod, which inspired this one.

If you don't see your name in the credits and think you should be there, let me know and I'll add you ASAP.

Just saw the "givedenmother" command. Never mind!

Can you tell me what the unique rifle's item ID is? I added the class after game start, so I'd like to "cheat" one in

Any way I can config the 'grapple loot' option to be range-restricted? https://imgur.com/CK7Ilq8

As you can see, it's really long range. To be within regular grapple range would be sensible. Cheers!

Is it just me, or is the Marksman Carbine still 5-7 damage (as per Iridar's mod)? I'm trying to alter it in Kiruka's Configs, but no matter what I set it to, the damage remains the same.

edit: well, can confirm that if you inject this mod into LWoTC (editing out Shadow Ops classes of course) without Modjam or anything, it just uses Iridar's Marksman Carbine (so, 5-7 damage). To fix that, just go into Rescue Denmother > Config > XComTemplateEditor.ini and change the weapon's values.

Is anyone else having a bug where resupply ammo is reducing a soldier's mobility? I had a sniper get reduced to 2 from constantly getting resupplied.

I'm just getting into LWotC and am very happy to have found this mod to work with the Denmother mod. A question: it requires [WOTC] Shadow Ops Perk Pack. However, according to the AML, that perk pack requires a deprecated mod, New Promotion Screen by Default, and 2 mods which I don't believe are needed for LWotC, the LW2 packs. Can I safely ignore those dependencies without causing problems? Also, the Shadow Ops pack says it changes the LW2 classes. Is this going to cause any problems with the normal LWotC classes? Thanks for any clarification.

Hi prob a silly question, anyone know if this works with RPGO?

Anyway to make this class trainable *without* needing to add all the shadow ops mumbo jumbo? Seems sad that if I want this class I need to also take eight other classes I don't want.
