Description
(NOTE: THIS MODEL IS A LEGACY MODEL. IT WONT RECIEVE ANY UPDATES SINCE THERE ARE MORE SUPERIOR VERSIONS OUT THERE)

This is the last model I will be doing for a while, since I want to take a break from modelling, since I want to focus on bug-fixes, school, hobbies, and jobs. So for now, enjoy the last new locomotives for a while.

In the late 1980’s, GMD specifically built 3 full-width cowl locomotive models for the 2 Canadian freight roads: Canadian National and Canadian Pacific. The GMD SD40-2F was the last variant of the SD40-2, built in 1988, 8 years after the last SD40-2’s were constructed. Canadian Pacific took on 25 of these 3,000hp “Barns” (#9000-9024). CN took on the other 2 models, the SD50F and SD60F, which were cowl versions of the unsuccessful SD50 and more successful SD60. The SD50F’s were the first ones to go due to them suffering the same reliability issues as there American relatives, being retired in 2007. The SD40-2F’s were then sidelined in 2012 due to CP’s changes in policy, with CP retiring the remaining locomotives in 2016. CMQ would later acquire 10 of these locomotives for use on freight. They were later reacquired by CP after CMQ was bought by CP, and have since reverted back to work train use like many of CP’s SD40-2’s. The SD60F’s were retired in 2017, with many being sold off to various shortlines.

Today, CMQ’s SD40-2F’s still work on CP on work trains, and a few SD50F’s and SD60F’s finding a second-lease-of-life on shortlines across the USA. In this pack, it contains all 3 models with there specific variants as seen in service.

Also special thanks to Doggo the Doggo for the advice on making this.

I got to admit, the Sd40-2f looks a lot like a c40-8m.
