P-3 Series Panel Buildings for Cities: Skylines

Location: Russia: Moscow (e.g. Troparevo-Nikulino, Yasenevo, Belyaevo, Marfino)
Construction: 1973 — 1996

Description

The P-3 is one of the most recognizable Soviet panel housing series, built from the early 1980s throughout Moscow. Designed by MNIITEP, it introduced colorful facades — red, white-blue, orange — to break the monotony of gray housing. These buildings are featured in films like Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears and You Have Never Dreamed Of.

Most buildings are 16 or 17 floors tall, with a few low-rise versions. Apartments range from 1- to 4-room layouts, with rare 5- and 6-room variants. Facades combine painted panels and glazed tile inserts. All units except 1-room types include a balcony or loggia.

Each entrance typically serves four apartments per floor, with two elevators (passenger + freight), and trash chutes from floor 2 to 16. Despite structural walls throughout, limited remodeling is possible, such as combining the kitchen with the living area.
