ET 165 / 275 / 475 - Type Stadtbahn (= City line)

The type Stadtbahn of the Berlin S-Bahn were two-unit multiple units that were operated with third rail. Usually 2-4 units were combined to one train. At that time, it was the most modern means of transport in the world, and set new standards in vehicle construction.

ET 165.8 / 275.9 - Type Wannseebahn (= Line to lake Wannsee)

The Wannseebahn type of the Berlin S-Bahn were two-part multiple units that were operated with third rail. Usually 2-4 units were combined to one train. The 50 trains of the Wannseebahn type represented the last series of the ET 165. The welded instead of riveted connections and the new front, which were only used on 2 trains, are striking.

ET 276.1 / 476 - Type Reko (= heavily modernized)

From 1979 about half of East Berlin's ET 165 Stadtbahn and Wannseebahn were heavily modernized. They received a new front, a new interior and a new brake system. This made their appearance much more modern.
