CSX C40-8W Add-On Pack

Description
(Requires Halton's original GE C40-8W Pack).

This pack includes five G.E. C40-8W locomotives in various CSX liveries:
7307 in YN3
7348 in YN2
7670 in YN3b - Monon Sticker Unit
7689 in YN2
7812 in her one-off Spirit of America livery

(I had previously recreated all five of these engines using the AC4400CW model. They have now been upgraded to use the proper C40-8W model. 7670 was originally requested by lukehenry1022, while 7689 was originally requested by keeganstevens3).

The reason I chose the specific numbers of 7307 and 7348 is because they are the same as two DFB locomotives here in New Zealand.

The C40-8W is a type of diesel locomotive built by General Electric, who built 756 of them between 1989 and 1994. There was also a ‘cowl-body’ or full-width version built exclusively for the Canadian market; designated as C40-8M. The type we’re focussing on - the C40-8W - is much the same as the previous C40-8 apart from the so-called ‘wide cab’.

Union Pacific 9356 was the first C40-8W to be built. Production of this type would continue until 1994, when GE replaced it in their catalogue with the C44-9W.

Some technical specifications of the C40-8W are as follows:

Wheel Arrangement: Co-Co
Length - 21.54 metres
Width - 3.10 metres
Height - 4.67 metres
Fuel Capacity - 19,000 litres
Prime Mover - G.E. 7FDL-16
No. of cylinders - 16
Traction Motors - 6x G.E. 752AG
Top Speed - 113 kilometres per hour
Power Output - 4,000 horsepower

CSX was a major customer of the C40-8W, ordering 364 of them in the early 1990’s (they would later acquire a further 11 from Locomotive Management Services). Three of the Dash 8s built brand-new for CSX were 7670, 7689 and 7812. These engines were built in 1991, 1991 and 1992 respectively. 7307 and 7348 were originally ConRail numbers 6067 and 6167 respectively. 7307 was built in 1990, while 7348 was built in 1993. The ex-ConRail engines are notable for having their headlights mounted above the cab windows, instead of on the short-hood like the newer Dash 8s.

CSX 7812 is quite notable for hauling the campaign train for then-president George H.W. Bush in 1992. For this run she was temporarily renumbered to 1992. Incidentally Bush lost the 1992 election to Bill Clinton. 7812 remained in the ‘Spirit of America’ livery until 2003, when she was repainted in the YN2 livery.

CSX 7670 is another notable engine from this pack, as she is one of the ‘sticker units’ that carry the logos of fallen flag railroads. She is the Monongahela sticker unit, and received this logo during her repaint in YN3b colours back in 2016.

All five engines included in this pack are still around today (in real life, of course). Their fates, if my research is correct, are as follows:

7307 - repainted in YN3 livery in 2010; in service as recently as 2017
7348 - repainted in YN3b livery in 2016, and sold to LTEX in February 2020
7670 - still painted in YN3b livery with Monon sticker; in service as recently as 2017
7689 - repainted in YN3b livery in 2017; in service as recently as 2018
7812 - still painted in the YN2 livery; in service as recently as 2017

I can’t say for certain whether or not 7307, 7670, 7689 and 7812 are still in service with CSX.
