Description
This is an improved version of my Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) Transponder System. This is the side of the system that is meant to be installed on a vehicle or aircraft. The system is designed to serve as a transponder and locator system between friendly vehicles and a ground-based radio station. There are 9 operating frequencies or ID numbers that can be assigned to a vehicle by an Air Traffic Controller with the corresponding ATC Side of this system. The system has 3 modes for transmitting data to the controlling radio station: Mode A sends the ID code chosen with a selector switch, Mode B transmits the X and Y grid coordinates of the vehicle, and Mode C transmits the vehicle's altitude.

What you will need:
-3 Instrument Panels
-2 Radio Antennae
-A GPS
-An Altimeter
-A Vehicle to mount it on with electricity

The first instrument panel will control the ID code and transmitting frequency. It will be setup with an up arrow on channel 1, a down arrow on channel 3, a seven-segment display on channel 2, and a switch on channel 4 to turn on the transmitter. I recommend painting this panel green.

The second instrument panel will have a switch on channel 1 for Mode A, a switch on channel 2 for Mode B, and a switch on channel 3 for Mode C.

The third instrument panel will need dials on channels 1 through 4. Channel 1 will show the ground station ID, channel 2 will show the bearing to the station in degrees, channel 3 will show the distance to the station, and channel 4 will show the altitude of the transmitting antenna at the station.
