This modification is a work of fiction, and is loosely based on real world history. The groups, characters, places, names and events in this modification are fictional.

Sunset over Takistan is a project encompassing the Green Sea Region between 1979 - 1992, and takes numerous creative liberties in an attempt to flesh out the conflicts between Takistan and her neighbours, as well as the Takistan Civil War that ultimately led to the end of the monarchy and the rise of the dictator Muhammad R. Aziz. At this time, the plan is for Sunset over Takistan to focus on two primary conflicts; the Takistan-Ardistani War 1979-1987 (the "Oil War") and the Takistani Civil War 1988-1992. Additionally, special attention is planned for the Chernarussian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Republic of Karzeghistan given their presence in the region.

A full list of dependencies can be found on the lower right-hand side of the Workshop page.

By design, Sunset over Takistan utilises Global Mobilization from Vertexmacht, Western Sahara from Rotators Collective and The Free World Armoury by TepacheLoco. All are essential to Sunset over Takistan, and I am immensely appreciative for the fantastic work they have done. I'm currently investigating creating / importing more equipment into ArmA III to supplement the project further.

Factions

Royal Takistani Armed Forces - 1970s-90s [BLUFOR]
Following independence from the British Empire in 1952, the Kingdom of Takistan has sought to establish itself as a major power in the Green Sea Region. Although nominally a neutral country that has courted both NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the past, recent years have seen Takistan increasingly align itself with the West, cutting off vital oil exports to the Soviet Union and the neighbouring Islamic Republic of Ardistan.

Pro-Royalist Militias - 1970s-90s* [BLUFOR]
The remote and isolated nature of northern Takistan has made it difficult to maintain control over the local tribes that have resisted the gradual modernisation of the country - as a result, the kingdom has turned to a collective of local warlords to enforce the rule of law. Although poorly equipped, the various militias that occupy the region are battle-hardened and willing to lay down their lives to protect their own if necessary.

Islamic Republic of Ardistan Armed Forces - 1970s-90s [OPFOR]
A former tributary of the Russian Empire, the current Islamic Republic of Ardistan was founded in 1963 following the collapse of the Republic of Ardistan during the 1963 Revolution, when President Banisadr was overthrown by a Soviet-backed military coup led by Colonel Mohammed Mahdi. Although considerably less wealthy than their Takistani neighbours, Ardistan has seen significant investment from the Soviet Union in the last decade-and-a-half, allowing them to equip en-masse a fanatical conscript army.

Takistani Socialist Liberation Army - 1988-92 [OPFOR]
The Takistani Socialist Liberation Army (TSLA) is a militant group formed in the aftermath of an attempted coup against the Royal Family in 1988. Comprised of nearly half the Takistani military, the TSLA is led by Major Muhammad Rahim Aziz, a former high-ranking officer who became disillusioned with the kingdom’s increasingly pro-Western stance. Driven by a blend of socialist ideology and nationalist sentiment, the TSLA seeks to overthrow the monarchy and install a socialist government that would realign Takistan with the Eastern Bloc.

*Additionally, the Pro-Royalist Militias are duplicated as an Independent faction under the named Tribal Militias to allow for more varied missions.

If you were to add a GRNFOR / INDFOR unit, what faction would it be?

Will do :)

Odd - can you run a repair on the mod? Should be working fine.

@Joe the new factions don’t seem to appear for me, also I agree with Seris that it’d be cool to see some SOG stuff included :)

I'd love to see some of these mods include stuff from S.O.G Prariefire, it has some really nice equipment, stuff like the D44 85mm Divisional gun and mortar pieces that suit the 2nd hand cold war equipment would fit in very well.

Thanks for the mod!

@Joe Hey there, just letting you know that the interior textures of the BRDM-2 are bugged for both factions, the seats don't appear and the gun doesn't render properly. I hear it's a pretty common thing with GM mods that haven't yet been updated for GM 1.5. Something similar occurs in other mods that use GM's Iltis, so I guess some new texture files must be missing.

I've got plans to add them at some stage after the next GM update - I need to finish off the text and symbols for them.

An update you say? Looking forward to it!

I've identified the issue and it should be fixed in the next update.
