The backbone of the fleet, the F/A-18 Super Hornet ("Rhino") is the aircraft the U.S. Navy relies on to get the mission done in any part of the world, at any time.


This recreation of the iconic Hornet leans towards a focus on system usability and in-game combat capability, while also looking the part of the Super Hornet. This aircraft is labeled as the "Block III" version of the Hornet, which IRL adds the Wide Format Multi-Function Display, an avionics display very similar to that of the F-35. Due to the limits of NNTC's preexisting software, we elected to stick with the 2x2 and 1x1 display mix in order to give the necessary information to the pilot without spending months redesigning all avionics for a 2x3 monitor.

The flight controls of the aircraft have been tuned to allow the aircraft to handle like its on rails. If you are a Top Gun fanatic and want a hornet that can cobra, this can do it. By designing the fin layout to support high AoA maneuvers, the hornet can cobra by first flying slow, then pulling full stick back while pulling the throttle back at the same time. 90 degrees of AoA in a pinch. Just make sure to get the timing right with putting some throttle back in.
