Is part of the - The Broke Faction Mod.

Overview



A new unit for the lizard things. The Crystalback Salamanders are your ordinary Salamander, but addicted to Magic.

They should be recruitable where the Salamanders are.

Pack and ancient version are different. While the pack version fires a lot of projectiles with a rather short range, the ancient version is more of an artillery variant that fires a projectile, that splits into multiple.

Crystalback

A new key attribute, maybe for some future units as well. Crystalback units have as the name implies crystals growing from their back. These special crystals are magic absorbing, adding a 30% Spell Resistance to the unit while also giving them a unique extra ability, that activates if your winds of magic reserve is high. In this case the salamanders receive a +100% reload skill, making them fire twice as fast, but they have a penalty when low on magic. They also will usually have magic attacks.

Barrage

Nothing special here, a barrage unit just fires a lot of projectiles with some spread.

If people like it i intend to make more Crystalback themed units as some kind of extra archetype for the lizardmen.

Probably not compatible with 3.0

3.0 changed lines involving units, if it loads, it will (probably) crash some time into the game.

@Skarbrand i can recruit both in campaign and mp. You use other unit mods? Maybe you got one that has the same index number as the salamander pack. Can you try a campaign with only this as enabled mod.

idk if its somehow by me but it ads only acient salamanders not a salamnder pack. am i doing something wrong or its not in game yet?

Update is out that adds an ancient version to the roster, aswell as some changes to the pack version.

@Last Breath Crystalback saurus/skinks are indeed planned.
@Randy i hope it does, but from my previous mods it seams they dont so gotta look into that.

i sure love me more big dinos for lizardmen even with all the ones we got in the game i still want more lol
