[For Maintenance][MES] Dogfight Training Drone

Description


Hi! It's been a while and a lot of changes to the dependency mod has happened. I'm planning to update the training drones soon™ during the holidays. Until then I can't do much due to my busy schedule and other SE projects. I'm officially putting this mod for maintenance and while you can still use it, please expect some form of bugs and the like as I slowly fix things up.

About the Mod
This mod is what I consider as the next step to my previous dogfight training drone. For now, the mod only has 1 aircraft as an enemy but I plan to slowly expand on this and cover wide variety based on time period and type (biplane drones here we go!)

Features
- The aircraft in this mod can engage targets on land, sea, and air.
- Fighter/CAS and Air Superiority Fighters can use missiles as well as use countermeasures
- Jet and Prop variants

How to Use

This is an Admin only spawn and requires manual spawning. To spawn, enter the following in chat depending on the spawn you want:

/MES.SDE.RivalFighter ---------------------- Fighter/Close Air Support Aircraft
/MES.SDE.RivalFighterMissile ------------- Air Superiority Fighter
/MES.SDE.RivalFighterProp ---------------- Prop Fighter
/MES.SDE.RivalFighterBomberProp ------ Prop Dive Bomber

Note that the drones will spawn 5km~10km away and have no antenna. This is for testing out radar systems and long range missiles.

Fighter / Close Air Support
Weapons
- 2x 20mm Gatling
- 4x Hydra Rocket Pods
- Missile Countermeasures

Air Superiority Fighter
Weapons
- 2x 20mm Gatling
- 4x Aim-9 Missiles
- Missile Countermeasures

Prop Fighter
Weapons
- 6x 20mm Cannons

Prop Dive Bomber
Weapons
- 4x 20mm Cannons
- 1x Hydra (HE, Bomb Stand-in)

I'm not sure yet, I would have to check because I'm not in control of the spawning part, that would be MES. Tbf I have not yet experienced the problem of the planes not spawning but I could try adding in Aerodynamics mod if it indeed causes the problem. Thanks for this info! :steamthumbsup:

@khjin After trying for a long time, I finally figured out the problem.if you have an Aerodynamics mod plane can't spaw Can you fix it?

Hello! It seems that my latest update somehow broke something. I'm still looking into it but in the mean time, I have reverted the mod. There's a bit of delay, probably a minute or two after restart of a world that the mod would be able to spawn the planes. Kindly wait and then try again.

I have replicated the problem and is now fixed on my end so I hope it's also fixed for everyone. Cheers! :steamhappy:

Spawn Commands dont seem to work anymore.

So, the drones don't spawn on my worlds, and this hasn't been working for some time. Am I missing an unlisted mod? Or did the AI block update screw everything up?

Ah, sadly the behavior of the drone and how they fly are not up to me but to MES which is doing the flying. The drones themselves flies great when used by a human pilot but when it's AI they basically don't know how to bank or use airbrakes so there's that. Maybe someday a new AI especially made for planes is created and the drones can finally fly great.
