[RIM-161] (MK57 VLS)

RIM-161 air defense missile is an important part of the U.S. sea-based theater missile defense system (TMD), which is used to intercept medium and long range ballistic missiles. The SM-3 missile can also be used as an anti-satellite weapon to counter satellites at the near end of the low earth orbit. SM-3 missiles are mainly used by the United States Navy, the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Royal Dutch Navy
