Dwarf Dragon Hunters

Description
>>>*This mod is part of the Zerg Collection Volume I, DO NOT use this mod along said collection or you'll crash. Choose one.*<<<

*Please consult the Known Issues and QA sections before commenting, thanks.*

*NOTICE* All of my screenshots are taken with my certified potato pc™.
This means (at least in theory) that my custom units will look better on your high-end machine (if you do have one).
So don't be scared off by my horrible screenshots, thanks.

*NOTICEX2* All of these custom models are LOD 0 only.
This means that (aside from the units' impostor models generated at long distances) these custom units will not lose details when zooming out.
This may result in a minor or moderate impact on your FPS.

Please notice that the units' stats screenshot was taken with the unit size setting set to large, so expect more HP if you are playing on Ultra.

While initially this was supposed to be just a direct port of my Wyvern Slayers mod from Warhammer 2, I ended up making some minor graphical changes and added a few new units, hence why I did change the mod's name.

This mod adds the following units for the Dwarfs:
-Wyvern Slayers *>>NO, they are not part of the Slayer cult despite being called Slayers.<<*
-Dragon Hunters
-Dragon's Bane Bolt Thrower

Wyvern Slayers and Dragon Hunters have access to officers.
Dragon Hunters and Dragon's Bane Bolt Thrower have custom projectile models.
The Dragon's Bane Bolt Thrower has a custom destroyed model.
They are available through the main Dwarf barrack building chain and the Hall of oaths, notice that you'll also need a tier 2 Dwarf Hostelry (Drinking Hall).
You'll find the Dragon's Bane Bolt Thrower in the workshop building chain.

*COMPATIBILITY*

As far as I know this mod works with pretty much everything that do not mess too much with vanilla units.
Should be usable with an ongoing campaign but in my opinion You should not take any chances and use this mod on a brand new campaign to avoid any problems.

*KNOWN ISSUES*
-Some clipping here and there
-The Wyvern Slayer's officer Wyvern helmet mask will show a transparent/textureless part when you look at It from the front.
-The Dragon's Bane Bolt Thrower will always load the default Dwarf Bolt thrower's projectile before loading and throwing his custom projectile.
-If you are experiencing weird glowing effects on the units then please use this mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2922534576 until CA officially fixes that issue.
-Missing textures with certain graphic settings/while looking from certain angles: LOD issues/missing textures issues can be caused by low settings, LOD mods, Immortal Empires bugs and/or even some faulty version of H3ro asset editor.
Translated= I generally can't do anything about that.
If you are experiencing low poly models+missing textures there isn't a common solution that works for everyone, but I managed to fix that by doing the following:
-Disable Sharpening
-Enable FXAA
-Enable Unlimited video memory

*UPDATES POLICY*

Let me be straight with you...when the mod status change from updated to outdated....if you start to spam in the comment section things like "update pls, OMG UPDATE, can we have an update my good sir?, UpDaTe!1!1!1" and similar stuff....know that https://media.giphy.com/media/e3URFlLQywEPC/giphy.gif

...But jokes aside: please don't do that.
When it becomes necessary, and when I can, I will update my stuff, do not worry.

*QA*

-"Lord's Red line?Tech buffs?"
I gave them generic Dwarf unit sets, so they should get buffs related to those sets.

-"SFO/Radious ecc. ?"
As a matter of fact I'm officially retired from SFO/Overhaul related mods.
As always: If you already have previous experience in SFO submodding feel free to make an SFO version out of any of my mods that are currently missing one, I will link your submods if you provide me with a link.

-"Your mods are ugly and janky, why? just why?"
Here's a friendly reminder: I'm just an amateur and nothing more.
If you want beautiful stuff with no jank then stick with CA and/or professional modders and avoid my mods, simple as that really.

And that's all I guess!
Credits time!

Thanks to Merwanor https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561197995236346 and his Details Matter: Collection mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2855250680 since I used his Dwarf bolt quivers for some of the units featured in this mod.
Thanks to Phazer for RME editor!
Thanks to H3ro and his great tool!
Any of this would not have been possible without Frodo45127's RPFM which is still updated to this very day, thank you!
I would also like to thank Sebidee and Caligula for their great modding guides!
And I would like to thank you!
Whatever you liked my mod or not thanks a bunch for giving it a try!

Let's be brutally honest now: there are countless modders that are WAY more talented than me and that would deserve your money more than me.
That said, If you have grown to like my works so much to the point that you want to express your appreciation or just put a smile on my face...well: I will not stop you ;) .
You have my gratitude for all the support you can throw at me, independently by the donation's sum: you are all equals to me and I do thank you all.
From my part I can assure you that your donations will not be wasted, in fact I would mainly use them to:
-complete the Total War Warhammer DLC collection and thus expand my modding possibilities
-PC related things

That's a no from me since I have never made x2 mods before nor I'm interested in making such type of mods, sorry.
You can try to ask to modders who are known to often make x2 unit mods and see if they are interested in covering this mod, but I doubt it since my mods usually don't get any submods and when they do it's mainly compatibility or translate stuff.
It should also be noted that you could technically force x2 on all of your mods through an option inside Frodo's Runcher but I have no idea how that works.

hi you probably have a lot to do but can you make a x2 unit greetings mod from 100 to 200 or something or do you know someone
zerg93  [author] 12 Apr, 2023 @ 11:04am
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that I will not be updating any of my mods in time for the Chorfs update because my potato PC has finally left me after years of honoured service.
I have already found a replacement, but since I still need to know the shipment data and because of other shenanigans going on, I can't give you an exact ETA on when I'll be back.
You have my full permission to take and update any of my mods, but keep in my mind that I'll be back eventually and I'm going to update the OG ones.
Now I know that some of you might want to leave a comment to cheer me up or ask me some questions but please DO NOT do that and keep the comment section clean so that people can read this comment and understand why I'm not updating my stuff.
Thanks for all the support and see you again when my new rig arrives.

@Gunnar I only have this one up https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2857626194 .
It has most of my unit mods.

Zerg93, you always have some of the best mods! Not sure how hard it is at all, BUT you should do a compilation where you bundle your mods together? Maybe you have and I just haven't seen it. Either way keep on modding! Cheers!
JuJoo Guppy 9 Mar, 2023 @ 7:59am
No worries! Its still a well done mod, and it feels "lore-friendly" as you say, no biggie either way. Thanks!
zerg93  [author] 8 Mar, 2023 @ 6:52pm
Most of my mods are personal creations and this mod is no exception.
I probably should have used "lore-friendly" instead of "loreful" back there, sorry for the confusion.
Let's just say that I'm more inclined to make mods that somewhat make sense lore-wise but that I don't disregard the occasional "totally not lore-friendly" mod every now and then.
In this case I was mainly inspired by the Dwarfs' hatred towards Dragons and similar creatures.
JuJoo Guppy 8 Mar, 2023 @ 6:13pm
Based on your comment here, you seem to prefer to keep lore intact, I am curious if these units were in table top / in previous lore, or are they a personal creation? Ultimately makes little difference in my overall enjoyment, and certainly makes no difference in the mod quality, but I do tend to stick to mods that at least skirt the edges of established lore rather than making brand new ideas. just a personal preference on my part :)

Great mod regardless! Thank you!
zerg93  [author] 8 Mar, 2023 @ 10:26am
No, sorry.
While I don't have anything in particular against unloreful mods (made a few of those myself), nor anything against Dwarfs fighting along with High Elves (despite their abysmal diplomatic relations due to lore related stuff) the Dragon Hunters featured in this mod actually hunt and kill dragons for glory.
They would NOT get along with the only race in Warhammer (if we don't count Cathay) that keeps the Dragons in high regards, especially with a faction like Caledor that pretty much revolves entirely around taming Dragons and making a truthful bond with them.
If you don't care about anything of what I said above and you still want these units with Imrik then consider joining Da Modding Den https://discord.com/invite/moddingden and try to see if someone is interested in making said submod there or alternatively try to ask if someone is willing to teach you how to make mods (IF you are interested in becoming a modder, of course).
G_Masta_Phunk 8 Mar, 2023 @ 7:55am
Love this idea-- any way you can do a submod that gives these units to Imrik? Even though he is at war with the starting dwarves I think it would be a cool thing to be able to hire out the true dragon hunters of warhammer and get some dwarf mercs in the mix
