Music Box

The Music Box returns from Zeta Players but now this time is more multiplayer friendly and optimized! The Music Box is a entity that is specifically designed to play music in game that Lambdas can dance to. The Music Box can support any of these file types

The Music Box also sees the return of the Music Visualizer as seen previously.
One new feature the Lambda Music Box has over the Zeta's is the ability to enter a "Client Side mode" which means you can play your own music in any multiplayer server without limitation. In this state however, only you can hear/control whatever is being played so keep that in mind.

How to add music
To add music to the Music Box, simply create folders until you get this file path: DRIVE:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\sourceengine\sound\lambdaplayers\musicbox

Addons can add music to the music box just by doing the same such as: ADDONNAME/sound/lambdaplayers/musicbox/( Music files )

Place your music files in musicbox and you are done! Just note that your music file names must be alphabetical/numerical only and should never be double spaced or else they won't be played by the Music Box.

Note: You can create sub folders in the musicbox folder to be able to organize your music

Key Words
This addon adds a new Condition Key word
  • |nearmusicbox| : Text Lines with this Key Word can only be used if a lambda is near a music box

All settings for the Music Box can be located in the Music Box category under Lambda Players

yes but what would I name the new sound folder? assuming there is one.

I think you make the sound folder
Also, why do all my Lambdas suddenly start dancing indefinitely? Do they stay dancing as long as there's a music addon?

Is there a new sound folder I can add for profiles associated with this or does this not add any?

Is there a way we could get an option for reducing the flashing rate of the music box? Like it legitimately hurts my eyes at times with certain songs, & at other times I legitimately worry it could harm someone, I do like the lights though which is why some kind of counter to excessive flashing would be appreciated...

I don't have a clue how hard it would be to implement but some kind of max flashing rate setting or something would be nice.

Also an option for making the music box's sound global & just generally changing the distance it can be heard from would also be highly appreciated.
