FAQ
  • How you make doors goes along a curved rail?
    The script uses constrain functions to ensure the door can move along path defined by curved rails. And thanks to the help of Thomasims's fantastic method of smooth position constrain method :D.

  • Can you break these doors or they just forced to stay on rails?
    Yes you can break them, the constrain functions only runs when doors are not broken or staying close to rails, you can easily break a garage door with gun shots, explosives or just drive through it.

  • Is the control logic built into core script?
    Partially no, I only have the very core section of control logic in the core script which is using tag value to decide status of door. You can use other scripts to change tag value so control is highly customizable. You can write scripts that use buttons, triggers, tool operations, etc. to open/close garage door.

  • I love this asset and want to add them to my map, are there any tutorials for this?
    Yes, the mod have a PDF guide about making these type of garage doors. I have to say the structure of doors is a bit complex but I believe you would understand how to make one yourself eventually :D.

  • Due to use of constrain function, door body are always active (game would simulate physic) therefore adding too many could cause performance issues.

About similar mechanisms:
In my opinion that all objects moving along tracks (either partially or fully) can use similar constrain simulation logic. These mechanisms may include: trolleybus poles, train tracks, roller shutters, curtains, etc.

I have followed the guide to the best of my ability, yet the door doesn't stay on the rails. Is there anything you can think of that may cause this to happen, such as file placement?
