Alwent South (Lite)

Description
DESCRIPTION
This is the lite version of the Alwent South (Custom Oil Rig Base).

Cost: $564,940
Mass: 6235

Changes include:
  • The addition of Physics Flooders to all the storage tanks.
  • The doors to all non-essential areas such as the Generator module, kitchen storage room and one of the Accomodation wings have been locked, their contents removed and Physics Flooders added.
  • The launch RHIB has been removed but can easily be added back in by copying and pasting it from the original Alwent South via the workbench, or spawned in separately and brought over to the rig afterwards.
  • The LB600 lifeboats have been gutted, given Physics Flooders and are now for decoration only.
  • Several ropes and moving parts using pivots have been removed and/or given static replacements where possible.
  • Many decorative shapes that were being counted as separate objects by the Stormworks physics engine have been merged or removed entirely.
  • The 'Keep Active' block that keeps the Alwent South loaded into the game wold - even when the player is far away from the oil rig - is located inside the coffee machine in the upstairs office and control room.
You can safely delete this block via the workbench when you initially spawn it in if you want to save on even more system resources and make the game run even faster, just be aware that if you do so then the oil will only be refined into diesel and jet fuel when you're within 2km of the Alwent South.

Overall these changes mean that this version of the Alwent South now runs almost twice as fast as the original one - ideal for multiplayer gaming sessions, people who like to bring large oil tankers to their rig, or those that run Stormworks on what is more or less a potato with wires sticking out of it but still insist on using a small fleet of lag-inducing vehicles.

@caecon2028 - No idea, as unfortunately this only seems to be happening to you. I've just tested it out again myself and everything spawns in perfectly fine.

I hate to state the obvious, as I don't want to sound like I'm being mean to someone who could potentially still be a kid, but have you tried the usual troubleshooting techniques to get it to work? i.e. making sure you've researched all the required components if you're playing the classic career mode, unsubbing and resubbing to the addon, reloading the game, making sure complex vehicles with lots of physics objects aren't nearby when spawning it in via the workbench and making sure you disable any weird mods that could be causing issues 'etc'?

Why does the drill and crane hook not spawn when I spawn this build, they just arent there when I spawn it but they are there when I look in the workbench

That's the Alwent South updated once again, this time with a slew of fixes that helps improve the flow rates.
The biggest culprits were those new liquid relief valves that replaced the now deprecated fluid filters, it turns out that they actually reduce the flow rate quite significantly and that needed to be taken into account during the rework of the fluid system.

That's good enough! Now if I can only figure out how to hack into the game a little and make the industrial furnace run on crude oil. Thanks!

Yep, check the change notes, I updated this at around the same time as the original version with all the bells and whistles.

You won't get the crazy fast refining speeds that you would have prior to the space and compressed gasses update but it still works pretty damn well.

I've been wanting one of these forever but I forgot for a long time. So, pre-space update... does it still work?

looks great! Thank you for sharing. After I add AA and anti ship weapons I will give a lil update for it's server performance. o7

Unfortunately I've had to to some damage control after that latest patch in order to "fix a fix" released by Geometa that made the change listed below:

* Fix - #18543 Centred oil rig base workbench

Sadly this has resulted in the original Alwent South Lite being moved by several blocks, making it no longer align with the original rig structure and cause some of the helipad to spawn out of bounds when moved to the correct position.

Thankfully it only took about an hour to move things around and sort it out but it most likely means you'll have to respawn the Alwent South Lite from scratch if you want everything to fit correctly again.
