ACRE2 - Bagigi Fork

Description
ACRE2 Fork by Bagigi

This is a Fork[github.com] of the original ACRE2 mod, made by the italian Bagigi Community[units.arma3.com] for internal development and testing of new features, as well as general use.

We will keep this fork up to date with most new fixes and features from ACRE2 development which are not yet available in the latest public release, as well as features developed by us that won't be accepted into the official ACRE2.

This Fork REPLACES ACRE2 in your modset, running both will cause issues.

The following feature list is based on the latest ACRE DEV BUILD v2.12.0.1058[github.com], as of 03.02.2025.

New features in ACRE2 for the next official release:
• Documentation - Explain variable Tx Power of PRC-77 #1366[github.com];
• Core - Fix GSA rope helper objects being placed below buildings #1367[github.com];
• Signal - Add climate code 4 to North Takistan (Longley-Rice) #1368[github.com];
• Translation - Improve Simplified Chinese #1369[github.com];
• Compat SPE - Fix string #1370[github.com];
• BF-888S - Optimize with isNotEqualTo #1371[github.com];
• API - Add Function to set Channels on all Radios a Player is carrying #1302[github.com];

Additional features by Bagigi:
• New CBA settings for a "Long Range Signal Model" that is only applied to chosen types of antennas. Makes it possible to (for example) apply LOS-Multipath to handheld radios while allowing Backpack/Vehicle Radios and/or Radios attached to Ground Spike Antennas to use the Arcade signal model and remain unaffected by terrain features;

• Increased maximum load of Radiopacks from the Contact DLC, allowing them to hold 2 AN/PRC-117Fs instead of none;

• New CBA setting for a "PRC343 specific Terrain Loss Coefficient", as a way to reduce the AN/PRC-343's susceptibility to terrain masking without reducing all other radio's terrain loss as well;

• Test implementation of Wireless Set No38, a WW2-Era Radio #1323[github.com];

• Test implementation of new Compats for Pedagne and Unsung (no PRs yet);

• Test implementation of RF-3080 SATCOM Antenna[www.l3harris.com] and associated Signal Model (no PR yet);

• Test implementation of Improvements to Descriptive Radio Names in ACE Interactions #1372[github.com];

Best ACRE fork

Babel functionality is not changed by this fork. If you can't get it to work with either you are probably scripting it wrong (Babel framework documentation is not really good), best get on the ACE3 Discord server [acemod.org] for support.

are you able to have a designated translator with this mod or no? i cant get it to work with the main mod, and all i can find on it online is from 2016

Yea thought so
So i was using the 117F in a backpack and a 148 in the uniform

I had removed/disabled acre 2 standard from the modpack on both clients and the server at the time but still had the same outcome

I will try another test soon see if it does the same

Radio packs means ACRE Radios that can only be placed in backpacks, which includes: AN/PRC-117F, AN/PRC-77 and SEM70.
I don't think backpacks can be preconfigured with ACRE settings, that's a TFAR thing only.

That's weird, it has always worked well for us.
Are you sure you are now running only the Fork in your modset? Running standard ACRE2 simultaneously is a probable cause.

Thank you for the information
When you say radio packs do you mean backpacks preconfigured with ACRE settings in the configs or the AN PRC 117F?

I set the long range to arcade and standard to LOS multi path
I ticked the boxes for vehicles and pack to be counted as long range and i did the GSM to the Both option

When i connected radios to the GSM or used vehicle mounted radios it still had the same outcome

@TomDiddly Hi,
The Fork is independent from the original ACRE2, so you only need the Fork active.
As of right now (might change as we start developing plugin improvements), the Fork reuses the original plugin .DLLs, no need to reinstall or switch plugins.
You need to configure which antennas count as "long ranged" and will use the Signal Model LR setting. You can do that via appropriate CBA Settings.

In your issue, which settings did you set?
The standard CBA settings should allow radiopacks, vehicle racks and GSMs to work with Signal Model LR. If you set that to Arcade while keeping the normal Signal Model setting on LOS-Multipath (or others), you should notice that those radios now largely ignore terrain.

Hiya
In regards to the separate LOS/pathing for long range radios and other antennas i have a few questions as when teste this didnt work for us

1. Do you have to have standard ACRE 2 installed?
2. Does it matter if team speak uses the same acre 2 plugin or are they separate?
3. Do you need to configure the Antennas that you want to count as long range somewhere specific or is this already defined IE just using the 117/vehicle ect in CBA?

The main feature we are really interested in is the ability to set GSM/GSA, 117s and Vic radios to be able to perfrom way better better over a standard radio such as a 152 or 158 however when we set the LOS for long range radio settings in CBA it had no effect and still had the same range as a 152

Implementing Cell/Satellite Phones is one of the things we are going to look into, don't expect anything soon though.

Using someone's backpack radio is already possible via radio sharing [acre2.idi-systems.com] in the official ACRE2.
Our Fork also implements connector ropes, a WIP feature that will probably be in the next public version. This visualizes using the radioman's backpack radio with a black wire rope, ACRE Animations adds nice handset models and animations to that.

awesome. im hoping you could do something like WW2 Phones which only supports TFAR.

it'd be sick to pull off a phone off someone's backpack radio, but i'm being a bit naive since I don't actually know the internals of TFAR vs ACRE2 heh
