FS UIC Z1 Coaches by FICA

Concettualmente derivate dalle EUROFIMA, le carrozze UIC-Z1 sono sostanzialmente il seguito italiano delle UIC-Z (eurofima) europee.
Vennero acquistate in diversi ordini a partire dal 1987. Nel primo di essi, furono acquisite esclusivamente carrozze di seconda classe cui fu applicata la livrea Bandiera (con fasce azzurre).
Negli ordini successivi, furono incluse carrozze di prima classe ed un limitato numero di bagagliai. Le livree applicate furono la Bigrigio e la XMPR.
Nel 1993 apparvero le prime carrozze adibite al trasporto di carrozzelle.

Tali vetture, come le Eurofima, subirono radicali modifiche con il progetto IC901: tutte le vetture vennero trasformate in ambiente "a salone" e le prime classi furono declassate, in modo tale da ricevere lo stesso allestimento interno delle seconde. Le carrozze BH per trasporto disabili vennero modificate al fine di ottenere un piccolo spazio per la ristorazione a bordo.

Le UIC-Z1 sono attualmente in servizio nel Gruppo FS (servizi IC sun ed IC night)

Conceptually derived from the EUROFIMA, the UIC-Z1 carriages are substantially the Italian continuation of the European UIC-Z (eurofima).
They were purchased in various orders starting from 1987. In the first of them, only second-class coaches were acquired and the "Flag" livery (with blue bands) was applied.
In subsequent orders, first class wagons and a limited number of baggage compartments cars were included. The liveries applied were the Bigrigio and the XMPR.
In 1993, the first carriages designed to transport wheelchairs appeared.

Starting from 2003, these cars, like the Eurofima, underwent radical changes with the IC901 project: all the coaches were transformed into open space version and the first classes were downgraded, to receive the same interior fittings as the second ones. The BH carriages for disabled transport were modified in order to obtain a small space for catering on board.

The UIC-Z1s are currently in service in the FS Group (IC sun and IC night services).
