Description: In the present day, various Zemplix "species" already exist, although the differences between them are so subtle that one likely wouldn't even notice them.

But if we do the Next Earth thing and travel into the future, we meet the Zemphans. One hundred thousand years from now, on Somurgo, a planet where Zemplixlings are raised in a building along with all other Zemplixlings, rather than being taken care of by their actual parents, a new species has appeared. They don't understand family, causing them to become a paler shade of blue, grow slightly weaker, become more aggressive, have much shorter (but still really long) lifespans, and mysteriously, grow another antenna, giving them a chance at producing two eggs at once rather than just one. We're not too sure why this happened, considering they won't even take care of them. Give them a hug, they need it. Just make sure they don't evolve into Metallivores first.
