Description

Ulninru Tidnum Heavy Industry (UTHI) unveiled a series of small switchers, primarily intended as industrial switching locomotives, in the late 1950s.
CC54 - Intended to fill the same role as the slew of 44-ton and 45-ton centercab switchers, the CC54 boasted a little more power, carrying a pair of 250hp prime movers to give it a full power of 500hp. Right from the start, the CC54 was capable of running with only one prime mover active, when lower fuel usage was more important than might. Later on, when UTHI had more production capacity, the CC54 would be replaced by, and many rebuilt into, the CC64R1 (externally identical), which gave it an additional 100hp and better electronics.
CC94 - As a "big sister" to the CC54, the CC94 had a great deal more power thanks to some unusual and unimprovable external motor technologies, putting out 450hp from each of its two prime movers for a total of 900hp. Unlike most UTHI locomotives, the CC94 would not receive a boost in horsepower, but would become more fuel efficient and receive better electronics as the CC94R1.
OC64 - Built on the same frame as the CC54/CC94, the OC64 has only one, larger prime mover, which provides 600hp. It was not as widely requisitioned by the railroads of the CAU, though with the small secondary hood available for various equipment, it did see some use in specialty roles such as pulling small commuter trains. In its rebuilt form, the OC74R1, it had 720hp and better electronics.
OC104 - A surprisingly potent little locomotive, the OC104 was similar to the OC64, but designed to be run short hood forward and had a larger, more potent prime mover, able to provide 1000hp. Many became commuter rail power, often running in pairs. Rebuilt as the OC124R1, these locomotives would be improved to 1200hp and better electronics.
