Testing next , first with placed elbow and game freeze/crash, then without using a elbow on the cannon and no lääg/crash happend.
then youre magazine placed direcly on the doorside of the cannon, there are feeding the cannon?! *nice* and no läägs or crashes.

I build the canon in front, with Elbow (Mod) right and left from this, youre Magazine placed with doors to meridian of the ship on booths side.
Fill up the ship (creativemod) , game freeze ans crash...
If i fill up the ship without youre magazine, no crash, then my ship build the munition, the crew filled up one side the cannonmagazineline, game freeze a while and then work again, crew filled up then the other side, game freeze again and run after some secends, then without läääg.
I save then the ship, build it (in kreative) and game crashed...
with vanillamagazines, the fill up on shooting (thats new, think is by youre mod) and change the fill up on shooting for the vanilla ones to) but no freeze or crashes.
It's okay, I think your idea is very good,I can understand it quite well.
e.g assuming a chaingun is hooked into the top belt and the arrow points toward the loading door,

Sorry, I don't know why. I just commented out the original alignment code and suggested using the new component as a bend
