Valyrian Name Lists Expanded - A Submod for CK3AGOT

Description
Valyrian Name Lists Expanded - A Submod for CK3AGOT

Valyrian Name Lists Expanded
Valyrian Namelists Expanded is a non-official submod for CK3AGOT intended to diversify some of the more limited vanilla namelists, namely High Valyrian, but has expanded to include every namelist in the Valyrian and Ghiscari namelist files. As a linguist, much effort has been made to make these names feel as if they would naturally occur in the ASoIF universe and to avoid names that sound aggressively fanfic.

High and Westerosi Valyrian
The initial focus of VNE was to add flavor to longer games by giving more diversity to the High and Westerosi Valyrian namelist while trying to not utterly alter their general naming convention. VNE namelists are weighted, making the names you would normally see more common, ensuring that while there are more names, they won't dominate your games. The pool of names most changed is the uncommon list, intended to make new names occur every few generations rather than replace the cannon ones. This helps add to immersion, especially in games stretching more than 100 years, where the Targaryens will no longer solely recycle the same 20 names in the books. The amount of High Valyrian first names and dynasty names have more than doubled and the Westerosi Valyrian name list is expanded to roughly 1.5x its vanilla size.

Dragons
After the Dragon Update, their name list was added to the Valyrian file. VNE expands on it with Valyrian inspired names to flesh out the 'traditional' dragon names, akin to Vhagar and Meraxes, and names in the common tongue, akin to Dreamfyre and Sheepstealer. These names, however, are rather uncommon as the vanilla list is already quite substantial.

Valyrians in Essos
Eventually I set out to expand every list in the file, even those who are not in the game yet, to add flavor to Valyrians in Essos. This mod initially focused on Essosi Valyrian because they didn't originally have a namelist but due to some inspiration from Legacy of Valyria I fleshed out all name lists (although all added Valyrians in Legacy of Valyria use the Essosi Valyrian name list at the moment).

Ghiscari
After playing Legacy of Valyria I wanted a more in depth namelist for the Ghiscari, which doesn't have any vanilla dynasty names and included a small name list. Rather than make a separate mod for a niche namelist for cultures not natively present in CK3AGOT, I decided to add it to VNE. This helps flesh out Slaver's Bay. There are now more than 50 new dynasty names and the namelist is doubled in size. The new Ghiscari names are mostly inspired by Babylonian names which have been altered to fit into the setting of ASoIF.

Compatibility:
-Save Game compatible unless there's an update for CK3 AGOT that restructures namelists
-Compatible with any mod that doesn't change the Valyrian namelist. If you have mods that change namelists, load this mod below it and it will use this Valyrian namelist instead.

Credit:
-A lot of the completely new names were taken from a redit post by u/izzyobro who made a list of all valyrian name prefixes + all valyrian name sufixes
-A lot of names were taken or altered from the CKII AGOT name lists
-Legacy of Valyria inspired a lot of additions and expansions to this mod
-Chatgpt did a lot of the heavy lifting with the localization file

Timeline:
Most Recent Update 30 March 2025
Priority in the next few weeks is cleaning duplicate localization, polishing Russian localization and reworking dynasty names. I will continually test this with the Legacy of Valyria mod to see if anything doesn't work and rebalance it as I go. Chinese localization will be removed as I have no ability to fix the machine translation.

Oof. I will fix that with the next update. That’s a relic from how CK2 weighted names. I guess I missed that one.

I used to have it in the description but there’s too many now. I can post a link when I get home to a google doc with most of them. Names will still repeat because it’s weighted similarly to vanilla AGOT name list however, just with more variety in the less common names.

Hey, is there any way to see the list of names this mod adds? I've recently started playing again and started off with this mod and a bunch of others, so I'm not actually sure what has changed or hasn't, but I'm playing a high valyrian family and it's getting to the point where it seems like i am still seeing names repeated a few times. So I'm unsure if this is working or if it's been overwritten by something else

@IGotACouch Awesome thank you. I'm honestly still debating if I'll even use the names in a Targaryen overhaul I'm doing but if I do I'll be sure to credit you. Again thank you.

If you credit me somewhere sure
