Description
Chair Lift (Combined AI version)

A chair lift that functions as a cable car system from Mass Transit combined with Parklife functionality (entertainment, park level, pathside instead of roadside etc.), primarily for Ski Resorts but also good for other uses. Features ground level loading/unloading, gravitative chairs with functional safety guards that open and close, and multiple pylon types activated at different elevations.

For the regular version (Mass Transit only), click here.

5 assets included in this pack:
  • Base & Summit Stations
  • Chair Lift Cables (with 2 pylon types or no pylon activated at different elevation levels)
  • Chair Lift vehicle (6 seater with safety guard that raises and lowers at stations)
  • Custom station network (not accessible from UI)

Found in Public Transport > Cable Car menu

How to use:
  1. Place your base station on COMPLETELY FLAT ground with the attached pylon facing uphill – the custom station network does not Flatten or Lower Terrain (so that it can function at ground level instead of second story) but the station itself does Flatten Terrain, so initially placing the station on uneven ground will cause the station nodes to get placed at unintended heights.
  2. Drag Chair Lift Cables from your Base Station – keep the line as near to 180º as possible for the best look and don't build segments longer than 12u or you'll get nodes with missing pylons (or just delete every other node that has a missing pylon with Network Multitool). Segments can be elongated past 12u with Move It.
  3. For steeper segments, Page Up the elevation level to at least 12m to activate the second pylon type which is angled differently for steeper inclines. Since it has to be activated at 12m height, use Move It! after placing to lower the node so the ladder is just above the ground.
  4. Build your Summit Station on COMPLETELY FLAT ground with the attached pylon facing downhill. You'll want to line it up with the cables so it connects as near to 180˚ as possible.
  5. Draw the last segment of cables to the Summit Station.
  6. Using Vehicle Selector, select your Chair Lifts as the only vehicle type for each station. If you have other cable car stations in your city, you'll also need to set them to cable cars only so they don't use the chair lift vehicles.

Additional notes:
  • Invisible Pylons can be activated at the third elevation height (24m) for custom builds.
  • It still functions as a cable car system, meaning the chairs stop on both sides of each station to load/unload passengers and there's no way to prevent cims from riding downhill.
  • Skiers in pictures are props included for scale only, there's no actual rider model. Cims just wait at the station with their luggage and then load in/out. I'm not yet skilled enough to create seated skier models to add to the mesh.
  • Chairs use the Stopped submesh flag to open the safety guards while stopped at stations. (Mainly this was a skill test to see if I could add moving parts.)
  • Move It! can be used to copy/paste either of the two pillar types from the cables by selecting Buildings from the Marquee tool, and can be converted to PO to adjust angles.

Required mods:
  • Combined AIs for merged CableCarAI with ParkBuildingAI
  • Gravitative Cable Car or Chair Lifts won't hang completely vertically (not a hard dependency but highly recommended as it took a lot of effort to make the chair lift vehicle model compatible).
  • Vehicle Selector to select Chair Lifts as your only vehicles for the network.
