Description

Are you tired of trying to get a specific gene after hours of grinding quests, extracting, and trading? With massive mod lists with hundreds of new genes, is it even worth losing your sanity over it? Your colony could already fabricate advance bionics, so why not genes? Now there is a solution. With the Gene Fabrication bench, you can now craft genes on your own, without the need for the constant grind. This late game bench can now allow players to focus on other game play features, or allow players more leeway to enjoy their role play and/or play style.

Q: Does this replace the need for quests, extraction, and trading to get genes?
A: Yes and No. This is an alternative to the aforementioned, allowing players a way to get genes without the need to rely on getting lucky with Rimworld's rng mechanics. While this very well could be a replacement, this method is relatively costly in both time and resources, as crafting even the cheapest genes would take as much time as crafting late game bionics, with a steep price of neutroamine, a resource that is hard to come by in vanilla mechanics. Keep in mind the research project to unlock the bench is also one of the most expensive in rimworld, and all genes require an intelligence skill check, potentially taking time away from research onto crafting genes.

Q: Do I need to craft the gene in one session?
A: No. This mod also introduces an unfinished genepack, allowing you to stop crafting a gene at any point without needing to worry about lost progress. Now you don't need to worry if your pawn needs to go to bed, or if a raid happens, all crafting progress should be safe.

Q: Are there any ways to modify how the mod functions? Are there any mod settings?
A: Yep, in our recent update, players can now choose to blacklist certain genes from being crafted. You can even adjust the cost of neutroamine and archite capsules, as well as how long it will take to get crafting completed!

Q: Can I craft genes added by other mods?
A: Yes!

Small proposal for 1.6: Make the bench benefit from being in laboratory rather than workshop, since that's where all genetics buildings normally go

@ruincrez Ye I plan to fix the research tabs on all my mods since they look like they moved.

@wardogg Please send bug reports in the bug report discussion tab. I'll see thou if I can replicate this issue on my end and work from there.

Not familiar with that mod or this issue, might be a compatibility issue on their end. The workbench should function similarly to any other workbench.
