having the same issue as @SuHomunculoRiko, renamed the file in resource but it just changed the menu to the pre-anniversary menu, just with a dev commentary option added that simply shows the new game menu. cant switch to the episodes, cant access bonus maps or workshop maps. i think it would just be easier to have us drop the bonus maps gamemenu file into resource to replace the regular gamemenu file instead of renaming, since we can always fix it just by verifying files or reinstalling the game if worst comes to worst.

i followed the instructions but it just turns into normal hl2 before the extras, workshop or anything, it also won't let me load any chapters bc they are now locked again (i'm on linux if that's important)

Interesting. I'm not sure there's a benefit to this method compared to simply loading a map through the workshop or from the console, but it's very neat that you can do this in the first place.

And for those talking about the manual installation, the reason is that you normally can't modify that type of file via workshop, and the default tends to override any attempts. So you'd have to rename the original so that the game can't find it and can only find the one provided by the mod.

It's a similar situation to startup videos from L4D2. They run before workshop stuff is submitted, so to use them you'd have to extract the files and install them manually. There was no other way to go about it.
