Legend Craft Evolved

Description
After much consideration and between being very busy with RL and other projects and also some major PZ burnout, I’m officially suspending development of this mod. It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to even try to write an update and that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. While it is missing some requested features and will have incompatibilities with certain weapon mods that employ script swaps for things like bayonet use or stock folding (this mod already includes compatibility files with some major ones like Britas and VFE), it is very functional in its current form and has behaved well over 200+ hours of testing. As it stands, it should remain in good shape for B41, but may become increasingly less reliable as B42 continues development in its unstable branch. I may try to come back to it and polish it up once B42 is released into stable. So cheers! May your sprinters always stumble and your bags overflow with ammo! 🍺

The new and much improved version of Legend Craft - Melee Weapons and Guns & Grenades

Available for B41 and B42, Legend Craft Evolved lets you take duplicates of the weapons you find and, with tools, materials, and skill levels, combine them into ever more powerful variants. Works with vanilla and many major weapon mods including Brita's, VFE, Scrap Guns, and more. The mod defaults to requiring a hammer and 5 nails for every upgrade, allows the first upgrade on level 1 of that weapon's combat skill, and an additional upgrade per level until the weapon has reached Mark 10.

For those who are familiar with the original's shortcomings, Legend Craft Evolved now also retains all tool functionalities as well. This is achieved through the use of a script-less and recipe-less craftlike system that checks your inventory and prompts you with the option to upgrade in your right-click inventory menu. There is also a feedback system through character speech to inform you what is missing to proceed with an upgrade.

The mod also has a ton of sandbox choices split between two menus - Options & Values. There, you can decide
  • Which weapon attributes to allow for upgrade (damage is the only non-optional value)
  • How much each upgrade increases those attributes
  • What tool or tool type to use (B42 has up to three choices from 29 types to consider)
  • What materials to use, with 5 different choices in B41 and 7 choices in B42 (to be expanded in updates)
  • What skill level to check for progress - Combat, Maintenance, Carpentry, Electrical, or Metalworking
  • The option to prevent upgraded weapons from breaking or from taking any condition loss at all
  • And more!

There is also a token system to preserve upgrades should a weapon fall to pieces in B42 or be accidentally consumed as a craft ingredient. Everything is explained in detail in a HOW-TO.txt file included in the mod folder. So upgrade the things! Get too overconfident! Die terribly! That's how I use it anyway.

NOTE: When uninstaling the mod, upgrades are left as artifacts. So the mod includes a 'Reclaim Mode' which gives item refunds for all upgrades to be used before a mid-save uninstall.

SPECIAL THANKS
  • Taylor MH for the Spanish translation
  • Hx for the Korean translation and info about correct encoding for it
  • Vilespring - co-developer of Vanilla Firearms Expansion - for pointing out that VFE's folded stocks likely needed special attention
  • kin1555 for identifying a critical bug where upgrades were losing some values on exiting and reloading the game
  • CdrCantees for identifying a critical bug involving upgrade function not functioning properly when level and skill check requirements were removed
  • NuEvE for finding a major bug where artifacts would remain in the player's hands if a secondary equipped weapon was used to upgrade a primary or unequipped weapon or a primary was used to upgrade a secondary
  • Vasher for reporting a pair of bugs that could cause crashes under certain circumstances
