Description

Current version: 1.1
Please refer to the changelog for patch notes.

This mod adds airlock connectors in two sizes to the game. Airlock connectors can be used to create airtight connections between grids without using merge blocks. They can only be connected to other airlock connectors of the same type.

AQD - A Quantum of Depth is a project of mine, encompassing multiple small and larger mods aimed at improving the gameplay experience and eventually overhauling larger parts of the game:

Airlock connectors are available in two sizes: 3x3 and 1x1 (5x5 for small grid):
  • Airlock Connector Flat
  • Small Airlock Connector Flat
  • Large Airlock Connector

The mod furthermore includes a new option in the airlock connector's terminals, that will offer alignment guidance to match the rotation of connectors to each other.

  • I have no plans to add additional sizes or variants of airlock connectors in the future.
  • The flat airlock connector only transmits power - it is not conveyored. The large connector is conveyored.
  • Airtightness is somewhat janky - there's not much that can be done about it, unfortunately.

  • BDCarrillo - For writing the script to restrict arbitrary connectors from connecting to these blocks, and to offer alignment guidance.
  • Welch9o4 - For providing me with beautiful screenshots of the blocks in action for the workshop page.

This mod is fun and a must have if you remotly care about lore but I do have 3 problems with it.
1. It is called airlock connectors rather than docking ports.
2. The large connector is air tight in the middle instead of at the end.
3. The connectors count as an airtight block at all times. It should instead only count as an airtight block when locked or when aligned for docking. With a brief grace period of a second or so after undocking for any undocking based even controllers to work in.

I will admit that what I know about modding tells me that the third problem may be very hard and fiddley to fix in se1. But if you end up porting this to se2 you can probobly do the whole thing by making the block simultaniusly a connector and a door.

Hey, could you check if there's an issue with the large connector? I'm working with a script (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3485188140) and I want to use it to lock and unlock the connector via the script, but it's not working. Other connectors are working.

I can get one soon

Do you have a log of the crash?
C.DEF 20 May @ 10:21am
Ok its probably a conflict, but just to describe the scenario when it happened

I was welding it from a projection on a planet with low oxygen pressure but warm temp, and as soon as i welded over it to have the game create it, the game crashed.

my only guess is it has to do something with airtightness?

I've done what I can within the limitations of the game. The block as a whole should be airtight. If it's not, it's not something a mod can fix.

Uh it is the large open connector block and I can test rq if it happens in just a world with the mod. Might be having some conflictions with other mods

Really nice work. Beautiful model, cool functionality. I'll be using this on a lot of my builds going forward!

Just one issue on the large (3x3) one: the airtight volume seems smaller than it should be. Rather than reaching to the edge of the yellow ring, it reaches only half that distance, and it also doesn't extend all the way to the outer walls. This means that even when two of these connectors are locked together, there's still a depressurised space in the middle (about 2.5m deep). Obviously this isn't great if your helmet is off in Survival Mode...!

Is it possible to fix this? If it's part of the unavoidable pressurisation jank, I understand, but if not, I think it's the only thing holding this mod back from a perfect score!

which block? and does this still happen in a savegame with only this mod?
C.DEF 19 May @ 6:03pm
I think there is something wrong with one of the construction models, as it crashes my game whenever i try to weld it
