冬季战争（芬兰语：talvisota，瑞典语：vinterkriget，俄语：Зимняя война）是一场苏联与芬兰于第二次世界大战期间爆发的战争，自1939年11月30日由苏联向芬兰发动进攻而展开，苏联最终惨胜芬兰，令其割让与租借部分领土，而后于1940年3月13日双方签订《莫斯科和平协定》为结束。
自立国以来，苏联一直对与芬兰相接的国境存有异议，认为过于威胁到第二大城列宁格勒的安危，于是持续以谈判、威胁或尝试颠覆芬兰政府的方式来解决其边界问题，必要时直接通过军事行动并吞芬兰，重回以往俄属芬兰的地位。
芬兰方面则力保独立之成果，视苏联为唯一的假想敌，持续以外交手段来避免战争。1930年代，苏芬之间的几次谈判皆无结果，苏联决心武装入侵芬兰。1939年11月26日，苏联制造了“曼尼拉炮击事件”，以此为借口对芬宣战，在两国边境发动全线进攻。国际联盟将苏联的行动视为非法侵略，于12月14日将该国除名。
冬季战争中，苏联投入巨大兵力却损失惨重，国家声誉也受到很大的伤害，也未达到原先征服芬兰全境的目标。芬兰则不仅保有了主权，还赢得了国际声望。

The Winter War (Finnish: talvisota, Swedish: vinterkriget, Russian: Зимняя война) was a war between the Soviet Union and Finland during the Second World War. It began on November 30, 1939, when the Soviet Union launched an offensive against Finland. The Soviet Union ultimately achieved a Pyrrhic victory, forcing Finland to cede and lease some territory. The war ended on March 13, 1940, with the signing of the Moscow Peace Treaty.Since its establishment, the Soviet Union had long been dissatisfied with its border with Finland, considering it a threat to the security of its second-largest city, Leningrad. The Soviet Union tried to resolve the border issue through negotiations, threats, or attempts to subvert the Finnish government. If necessary, it would directly use military action to annex Finland and restore it to the status of Russian Finland.Finland, on the other hand, was determined to preserve its independence, viewing the Soviet Union as its only potential enemy and trying to avoid war through diplomatic means. In the 1930s, several negotiations between the Soviet Union and Finland ended in failure. The Soviet Union then decided to launch a military invasion of Finland. On November 26, 1939, the Soviet Union staged the "Mannerheim Line Incident" and used it as a pretext to declare war on Finland, launching a full-scale offensive along the border. The League of Nations regarded the Soviet action as illegal aggression and expelled the Soviet Union on December 14.During the Winter War, the Soviet Union suffered heavy losses despite deploying a large number of troops. Its national prestige was also greatly damaged, and it failed to achieve its original goal of conquering the whole of Finland. Finland, however, not only preserved its sovereignty but also gained international prestige.In this mission, you will command the Finnish First Division deployed in Karelia to fight against the Bolshevik invasion. Here, you can use the terrain to block the Soviet troops and use the limited number of anti-tank guns to deal with the Soviet tanks. Before playing, please set the troop multiplier to 2.5x.
