Sub-Buildings Enabler (DEPRECATED)

This mod is now deprecated! The game developers added ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ support for sub buildings in the asset editor!

Sub-buildings are separate building assets which can be used to create assets which are larger than 16x8. For example, the feature is used by the International Airport (After Dark DLC). This mod enables the feature for workshop assets.

The mod is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucessor of the 'Larger Footprints' mod. It is no longer recommend to use that mod (but of course 'Larger Footprints' is still required for assets which were created with it).

About the mod:
  • Feature is officially supported by the game, no hacks.
  • You only need the mod to place down the building. Even if the mod breaks, your super-large buildings are still there.
  • Minimal, high-performance code (only active during loading screen)

But there are also other use-cases that larger buildings:
  • Use the same module multiple times. That means you can save a lot of memory and increase the rendering performance.
  • Create buildings with irregular-shaped footprints (composed of squares and circles)
  • Combine buildings with different functionalities (e.g. hospital + fire station).
  • Create buildings with multiple overlayed modules using different shaders (one that follows the terrain as a custom ground texture, one that does not)
  • Create "props" (actually buildings) that will not disappear when you zoom out. This is especially useful for larger decoration elements

I want to ask do we need this mod now as the game devs have already added official support for sub-buildings? Or is it required for old assets?

@Cosmic Sea it have nothing to do that CR would hate them - the fact is that they case issues - evenb though people not see this directly or understand how the things belogs together....

Completely agree. This mod, additive shader, larger footprints - all of them are requirements for some really great buildings that will fail to load without the mod. But unfortunately compatibility report hates it :(

@StayHungryStayFoolish - I agree with you that there are many nice buildings that need this mod which is why the author should just update the mod and it shouldn't take more than two minutes because all they'd be updating is the version, not the actual files.
