Hero Beta

Description
A mode that I've had in my head for a long time - the objective is simple: collect EVERYTHING.
You get points for every block in amounts that increase as you collect more blocks in a row. Power blocks also award points based on your streak - be ready for some HUGE bonuses if you can get up to a few hundred blocks in a row...
There are also bonuses at the end for the streak you finish with (like an extra power block) and another 40% of your score if you hit every block in the song.

This is still in beta - I will welcome any suggestions.

Please don't submit mods based on this, as I will be making my own easier/harder variations when I finish everything up. (The release of the full version will be delayed until Dylan fixes a couple bugs that make it harder for some players to accumulate points.)

One of my favorite mods on this site. Top tier.

@RadiantDarkBlaze:
Nice job on Take a Hint. I've aced it in this myself. :P
The blocks flaring up is almost always due to the skin, not the mod.
In rewarding skill, I plan on adding something to do with points on lines (once Dylan fixes keyboard controls), as well as shoulder lanes.
That's a good point about it fully resetting - however, I would need to decrease the rate at which scores go up a little, I think. (I would be willing to do that.) It would probably be more like a 50% drop, though, as on songs which have lots of blocks but aren't difficult, the streak would build back up really quickly.
I plan on making a Hero Casual and a Hero Turbo mode once the full version of this is done (which requires bugfixes by Dylan because of the aforementioned lines). Casual will be a mode in which Darude - Sandstorm is remotely possible; Turbo will be as difficult as possible while still remaining fun.

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Played it a little more, and I have a couple more suggestions: when the player misses a block, the score for the next collected block should only go down by 10~25% rather than just resetting. I missed 4 blocks during a longer song... and one of them was literally smack in the middle of the song >.> Yeah. I get that the streak counter has to reset in that scenario, though maybe there's some way that the streak counter and next-block's-worth counter could be kept separate? Also, I personally wouldn't mind more intense differences between uphill and downhill; take a look at my "crash turbo" mod to GodofDrakes' "crash" mode (made + submitted with his permission) for example. Both uphill and downhill are set to 1.62 in that mode I based on the original "crash"; it's pretty intense ^^

Again though, the only reason I kept playing it long enough to come up with more suggestions was because I was having fun with it; awesome job so far overall! (;

I'll start with the minor gripes; the size that the blocks flare up to when you approach them actually makes it really hard to properly gauge the distance between block on the fly, is kind of distracting, and can even completely hide a block that's too close directly behind the block in front. I feel like all of that adds artifical difficulty, which is never fun.

Other than that though, this mod is really awesome! While it certainly keeps track of numerous stats, it only actually shows you those stats at the end as not to distract the player. Overall, it does a much better job at rewarding skill than GodofDrake's "crash" mod does ^^ I'll definitely be using this mod a lot! Looking forward to future updates! (;

This mod really reminds me of "crash" by "GodofDrakes" but more in-depth from it's description; I'll have to subscribe + try it out ^^ I'll let you know what I think of it once I've actually played it a little (; Possibly offer a couple suggestions.

I think this mod should be just my cup of tea though.... check this out ;P

Yep, works now - thanks! :)

@Hugh - I had screwed something up at the time you tried it, but fixed it shortly afterward. If it still isn't working, let me know what the error message says and I'll figure out how to fix it :)

Hi Gragon73, I'm getting a lua bug at the start and it doesn't allow me to "pick up" the blocks
Song: Do what you wanna do (schnabesthebabe)
Skin: Classic
Hope that helps! Really want this mode :)

I'll also be playing the SotD daily, so you can all see just how badly I suck at my own mod. :P
