The latter is the only one being supported by the devs.
Yea, every one wanting to take advantage of TFAR would need to download this mod, install Teamspeak, and also set up their Teamspeak to work with the game. There's tons of guides all over including on YouTube that can walk you through it. One thing that's changed lately though is that the plugin needed for Teamspeak is no longer hosted on the website like the readme usually says but actually in the mod's folder within the Arma 3 directory.
Teamspeak is basically a (pretty old) dedicated voice chat program. You'll not only need to install the client software but as well as the server hosting software and run that alongside your dedicated server (not necessarily on the same machine, though).
just a dumb question/query. I've never used teamspeak nor really know what it is other than it's like discord or wechat.
