The year is 2212, and once again the Galaxy sits on a powder keg. The glorious Allied Earth Council is a shadow of its former self. Once the symbol of peace and the single representative banner of humanity among the stars, it has fallen to mankinds hubris and ambitions.

Since the 2130s, malcontentment in the Border Worlds has been steadily climbing culminating in various violent incidences and the rising popularity of a seperatist movement known as the Citizens' Party. These lead to unpopular, but necessary colonial policy changes from the Allied Earth Council to maintain order in the region. This unrest ultimately lead to the War of Succession, also known to the Border Worlds as the Revolutionary War of 2176.

Following the post-war years of uneasy peace, some loyalist worlds formed the Terran Consortium to maintain order in their region, while the Allied Earth Council focus their attention in-wards.

With the discovery of the Traverse in 2200, rich with habitable worlds, the Council will not let this opportunity slip by. The FCR and the nomadic Vorat are both in the way of a united human stellar domain.
