Description
Commercial Airmobile Base

Void Corp miners and prospectors often find themselves working in rugged, mountainous terrain. So rugged, in fact, that traditional ground vehicles and base construction techniques often prove useless. Therefore Void Corp’s commercial division has developed the Commercial Airmobile Base, often dubbed “C.A.M. Base” or “CAMB” for short.

This mobile base has tremendous lift capacity compared to its own mass, allowing for a significant amount of cargo and/or additions to be made to its hull. While not nearly as fuel efficient as ground vehicles or static bases, the C.A.M. Base has the advantage of flight to allow it to reach the most rugged frontiers. Once in position, the base can touch down on its two landing gears and power down its thrusters, thereby saving fuel while not actually needing to fly.

C.A.M. Base operators were initially frustrated with its slow lateral acceleration, but clever pilots found that they could pitch and roll the base slightly in order to use the lifting thrusters to accelerate and decelerate. Reckless pilots found that too much of this at low altitude would cause the base to crash and their employment to be terminated.

•Thrust: Atmospheric (5 large for lift and 4 small for lateral propulsion)
•Maneuvering: 4 gyroscopes
•Weapons: 3 Gatling turrets
•Cargo: 2 large cargo containers (Equipped with basic tools, weapons, ammo, and materials for repairs)
•Crew and passenger capacity: As many as you can fit!

•Floodlights
•Ventral landing camera
•Repair projector
•Ground proximity sensor and sound block

Realistic Settings:

Max safe operating mass – vehicle plus cargo (approximate):

•Earth-like: 2,250,000 kg
•Mars-like: 1,800,000 kg
•Alien: 2,450,000 kg

Cargo capacity (approximate):

•Earth-like: 1,525,000 kg
•Mars-like: 1,075,000 kg
•Alien: 1,725,000 kg
