Venus - needs a fix from Keen SWH (see description) VOTE!

Description
UPDATE: I am working on updating all my planet mods, but I need some help. Many of the planet mods I create make use of albedo shading. This technique, discovered by Xilthis, creates subtle shading that brings a little more depth to planets. We had to use the ore mark mechanic to do this. Since Keen has changed the way ore marks are done, it is no longer possible to do this using that mechanic; but, it is still possible to do if Keen will implement it. If we can get the votes up, maybe they will make this technique part of the approach to planet design. Please go here and vote for this feedback: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/return-the-ability-to-create-planetary-albedo-maps-using-add-file. They will not listen to feedback with only a few votes. Please help.

Making an initial pass to update this mod for the latest update. The mesh issue should be fixed and you shouldn't be walking on air anymore. Damage scripts have been temporarily removed until they can be updated. Further updates forthcoming.

NOTE: Due to the way the game works, if you spawned the planet into your world before Nov 17, 2017, and you’re having issues with seeing cloud layers (some are black or missing), you may have to respawn the planet.

Venus, second planet from the sun, is named for the Roman goddess of Love and Beauty. It may have been named so because it showed brightest in the skies to ancient astronomers. But, the reality of Venus is anything but Love and Beauty - it is hell.

Venus is the hottest planet in the Solar System - temperatures reach 465 degrees Celsius and the wind speeds can reach over 300 km/h. The atmosphere consists mainly of CO2 with clouds of sulfuric acid. The surface is volcanic rock and molten lava. Ishtar Terra and Aphrodite Terra are the two major continents that rise up above the volcanic plains. There are a few other mountainous ranges. The highest point is Maxwell Montes on Ishtar Terra. One other notable feature are the twisted, sometimes ring-like chasms of Aphrodite Terra.

There is an intense greenhouse effect on this planet and the light can be intense if you enter the atmosphere directly from the sunward side - though it does ease up as you get closer to the ground. It’s best to come in closer to the terminator.

Characters exposed to the atmosphere will slowly die. The only way to protect yourself (or to auto-heal, if you have Auto-Healing on) is to get in a cockpit or airtight, pressurized room.

There are extensive lava flows on Venus - they are deadly. If you're standing where the lava has pooled and cooled, you'll take a bit more damage, but if you stand directly on a molten lava flow, you will die very quickly.

There is a reward for risking the atmosphere. The edges of the lava flows are rich in Uranium, and ore rocks contain Platinum and Magnesium. My recommendation is to set up shop in orbit and build mining ships best suited to longer stays in a corrosive environment.

I do not recommend this as a planet to start on - unless you're a masochist.

Recommended size: 120km
Gravity: 0.91 g
Atmosphere: toxic and corrosive.

Heightmaps are based on NASA data edited in World Machine to fill in the gaps and add some erosion. All voxel textures are original and custom made using Substance Designer and Photoshop. Custom Clouds made using Substance Designer and Grand Designer.

Special thanks to Doctor Octoganapus for his feedback and assistance, to Scanner for his feedback, and to Rexxar for the use of the Atmospheric Damage script.

Known Issues:

I modified the Atmospheric Damage script to get atmospheric and lava damage working at the same time on Venus. It may be buggy and inconsistent.

Block damage too high. Testing to find a good balance.

Looks like they've rejected the proposed change.

Any updates on your planetary mods? They are my favorite ones of their type and I'd love to see them updated.

@ninjawizard: I don't know. It looks like the suggestion has been submitted. Don't know if they'll do anything with it. If you haven't already, vote for the topic in the link provided in the description.

@ninjawizard - don't know. I haven't played in a while. It looks like crap for the reasons mentioned in the description. Once they add the ability to create albedo shading, I'll update it.

is your mod working atm man?

this game really needs venus, vanilla not mods; also they need to implement liquids somehow for water and lava - even if its a minecraft style thing

Could you make the clouds texture more opaque, so we don't get the weird effect where we can see a ring, where the terrain is visible through the clouds?
