This mod is compatible with, but does NOT require the Ethiopia DLC.

If you do NOT have the Ethiopia DLC activated. This mod adds Ethiopia as a new custom civilization, led by Zara Yaqob, as detailed below.

With the Ethiopia DLC activated. This mod adds Zara Yaqob as an alternate leader to Ethiopia, and adds a game mode to adjust Ethiopia's uniqes and abilities.

Home to ancient empires dating back to the waning centuries of the first millennium BC, Ethiopia has a storied history driven by the rule of great kings and emperors. As one of the few African nations to avoid the colonial ambitions of Europe, Ethiopia maintained its sovereignty into the 21st century, only briefly coming under Italian occupation for 8 years during WWII and its prelude.

Zara Yaqob was Emperor of Ethiopia from 1434 until 1468. A member of the Solomonic Dynasty, which traced its heritage back to the Biblical King Solomon, Zara Yaqob was an extremely devout, if occasionally draconian, ruler. He is known for, mediating between Ewostathians and church officials in Alexandria, for actions against the persecutions of Christians in Egypt by the Mamluks, and for establishing ties with Western Christians.

Ethiopia:

Unique Ability: Solomonic Dynasty - May purchase Settlers, Builders, and Traders with Faith. City Centers and Holy Sites yield +2 Faith when built on a Hills tile.

Unique Unit: Shotelai - Ethiopian unique Medieval Era unit that replaces the Pikeman. +5 Combat Strength against melee units. +1 XP per turn while garrisoned in a City Center. An extra +1 XP per turn for cities founded on a Hills tile, and +1 XP per turn if that city is the Capital.

Unique Building: Rock-Hewn Church - A building unique to Ethiopia replacing the Temple. Required to purchase Apostles and Inquisitors with Faith. +3 Production, this bonus increases to +5 Production if this district has a Worship Building. +1 Great Engineer point.

Zara Yaqob:

Leader Ability: Council of Debre Mitmaq - Receive an extra Wildcard policy slot when you have 3 or more Holy Site Districts. Receive a second Wildcard policy slot if you have 6 or more Holy Site Districts.

Agenda: Book of Light - Likes civilizations from different continents who share his faith. Is weary of civilizations from his home continent that follow a different religion.

Notes:
Ethiopia is currently using Sumer's music until custom civ music can be figured out.
This leader is animated.

The Ethiopia rework changes dont show up on the set up screen for me (Haven't tested it in game yet)

Any chance of any kind of tutorial for adding a 3D leader in a civilization? I want so badly to make my own and have already made a 3D model but just cant figure it out :S

i already made this point on your Gaul mod, give the civs your unique building, they look so cool., i just wanna say add the Hawelti Uniquie building to Yara, its so cool to have two unique buildings.

I have both Zara Yacob and Vercingeorix mods, the problem is when you create your own map in Worldbuilder and you can select game modes, there is only GaulDLCRework button, Ethiopia button is not there. This causes a problem when you play your map with the Ethiopian Civ even though you selected the changes from the Ethiopian DLCRework in the map settings, changes doesn't work and there is no additional Shotelai unit.
