Invincible Class Frigate

The Invincible class Frigates were built at the same time as the B Class cruisers, and were envisioned as part of the Grand Fleet doctrine of Earth's Starfleet. Being 4x cheaper than the B Class ships they were to suppliment, it was envisioned that there would be 16 Frigates to Cruisers, although the actual number was considerable higher. Armed with 4 forward tubes of Rockets, Missile and Heavy gatling guns, they were often labled as Destroyers, however they could not last in a sustained fight with dedicated ships of that class. Her energy shields were jsut as effecient as those on the Cruisers, and they were more manuverable, favouring hit-and-run style of tactics. Total numbers of frigates built enter the 400's, as they were cheap and easy to maintain. These ships would last well over 75 years, with some serving a century later, either as interplanitary couriers, light defense ships, or even as priate cargo haulers. They were overshadowed by more advanced ships, however even Earth kept several in reserve as late as 80 years after their introduction, with some even still serving as training ships.
