TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS
If the mod is not working for you please try these steps before posting a comment:

1. Go to Skyrim Launcher -> Data Files and check to see if Random Alternate Start.esp was downloaded. If not, wait for Steam to sync your subscribed mods.

2. Go to Skyrim Launcher -> Data Files. Make sure Random Alternate Start.esp is enabled (e.g. has a checkbox next to it) and that it is the last mod in your load order. If not, drag it to the bottom of your load order.

3. Make sure you're not using another mod that alters the beginning of the game (i.e. Skyrim Unbound, Alternate Start Live Another Life, etc.)

4. Start a new game and it should work.

When I start the launcher, the Random Alternate Start.esp isn't there, what can I do?:bbtduckshark:

You need to wait for Steam to sync/download the mod to your computer. Keep the launcher open, make sure you're logged into steam with an internet connection.

Ive checked all that stuff and it still takes me straight to the helgen start. What do i do?

Hey Syclon, I launch the launcher after Skyrim syncs the mods, and it still isn't there. Is there a file directory where I can place the files directly?

Hi Brinklesby, you can download the mod manually from Skyrim Nexus here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25404 the files go into your Skyrim/Data folder

My mod installed fine, but any attempt to talk to Jarl Balgruuf on behalf of the imperial legion gets me a "well, I trust you have something important to tell me, since you interupted my counsel?", and when I went to Helgen to try to finish that quest to see if it would open Bulgruuf, nothing happened. I stood in the spot for a while, and there's a dragon flying around in the distance, but the quest doesn't complete.

@Like Literally Starbucks: You have to talk to the Jarl *after* visiting Helgen and seeing the dragon take off. Make sure RAS is at the bottom of your load order too.

@syclonix Yeah, I reloaded a save before I went to whiterun to test that, The quest never completes. And I just checked to make sure, it is at the bottom of my load order.

Hmm.. have you installed any mods that alter Whiterun or Jarl Balgruuf or his court? I'm not really sure what could cause an issue like this except for a mod conflict. Everytime I've played my mod I've always been able to advance the main quest without issue.

Unfortunatly, the only solution may be to try starting a new game and seeing if the issue crops up again.

Syclonix, The mod allways worked for me and I must say, Wonderfull job! But now I reinstalled skyrim and unsubbed all mods. Just re-subbed to this one, let the launcher download the mod, and when I start a new game It takes me to the helgen/dragon attack. Hope you know how to fix this one! Thanks
