Pressure Plate Bug on Level 12 (the "Oitus and Armour" level with the Knights) ?
Right near the start of the level, you walk south down a long corridor. There is a pressure plate at the end of the corridor, just before it opens out into a large chamber.

In the chamber are four invisible pits that stop you from reaching the west side of the chamber. According to original Dungeon Master walkthrough guides, you are supposed to step on the pressure plate again to close the pits, allowing you to continue through the west of the chamber.

This does not seem to work! No matter how many times I step on the pressure plate, the invisible pits are always open. I have tried putting many objects on the pressure plate, but this does not work either.

It seems that this is either a bug, or the solution is different to the original game.

Does anyone know how to get past these pits?

Thanks.

I did manage to get past this eventually. The solution to this bit seems to be different to the original Atari ST game. It was a while ago when I worked it out so I cannot remember the exact details, but it is something like this: When you fall through the invisible pits, in the small area below there is a (possibly not visible) pressure plate where you have to leave an item on it. I think it may have been on one of the squares fairly close to where the portal was – the one that sends you back up top. When I saw/heard that there was a pressure plate there, I just left a rock or something on it and carried on. The next time I went back up, I managed to get over the invisible pits.
I am not sure if it was just the pressure plate that closed the pits, or if that was a combination of that and something else, but it certainly seemed to do the trick.
