Why there will never be water on the lower side of the valley
You guys have been asking about this a lot and yes, I personally like some water on the lower side of the valley too. Here however is the reason why this can never happen:

Source can handle only one waterlevel with a rendertarget used to compute reflections at one time. it is possible to put more than one waterlevel into the map, but two would not be displayed at the same time.
It would be also possible to use fake-water without realtime reflections, but it would create visual inconsistencies...
There might be some clever way to fake it and make it look okay-ish, but It would require a great deal of time which, at the moment, I don't have.

If you know such a way, feel free to post it here. If I miraculously have a few free weeks to do my long anticipated maps patch-around marathon and I have found a good way by then, this map might just get more water after all.

Because this map is 8 years old I dont have the capacity to update it anymore. But I appreciate you still enjoying this map and being engaged after all this time :)

Just a idea on a reason why there is no lower water besides lack of time. "There is a heavy drought and that is the rest of the drinking water."
Well, set 60% water floor.

I can't really explain. But the \_ on the image is the dam. the lower line in left...idk why i drew it. I am not good at using PAINT rly

I had thought about that too, but it would make the whole open space in the valley completely unusable. Also I really don't have the time right now to revisit old maps :/
Where you planed add new action in old maps?

Maybe the map is set in Half-Life: 2. It would make sense and the map does look a little post-apocalyptic.

if you had more time you could make the water from the dam emtpy out into the canyon

shame, would have been cool to have a button that would fill the other side with water

3kliksphillip had done a video long time ago about moving water, but you probably already have seen it/ the technique he used

it's time to make a version where the water is in the dry side (of course with some edits to the dry area to make it fit haviing water) :cuphead:

what about in half life 2, the Water Hazard level where you shoot through the dam and go to black mesa east? there is two waters there... one up the dam and one at th bottom...

I looked at the walkthrough and it seems like they are using a cheap water shader without realtime reflections for the water on the lower side. It's not really noticable because the section is pretty short, but on a larger map the visual inconsistencies might be too big

bumping so this stays visible

Umm... There are maps with multiple water levels.
