Master Chris's Vehicle Pack

Beta Vehicles
Hello everyone, I have just rolled out my first update to the pack in more than a year. This is to begin paving the way for a set of expansions to the pack and fixing a lot of longstanding bugs and issues.

I have replaced the old test vehicles category with a new 'MC Beta Vehicles' category, this category contains new improved vehicle scripts for all the vehicles with increased grip, handling and suspension plus power boosts for some vehicles. I'd really appreciate some feedback on what you guys think of the handling in comparision to the standard vehicles in the ' Master Chris's Vehicles' category. If the response is good then these Beta scripts will replace the old standard scripts. I didn't replace them right off the bat so as to not shock people who weren't expecting this update.

You will also find a few fun/stupid/glitchy handling scripts which I included in the Beta category including a Chevy Blazer which can drive upside down on the ceiling, a truck which accelerates uncontrollably to infinity and deletes itself and the good old April Fools Charger.

Also tell me if the in-game notification message gets annoying, I'll disable it after a few days or a week. I just want to make sure everyone knows about changes to the pack. There may be more coming which will require your attention.

Hey there. I quickly tried some of the beta cars and there is my first impression:

The Dodge Charger:

I really like the new physic, the car is heavier to control and i really love how she pitch when you turn, start and stop it's very realistic.

Bugs:

-The car flip when you jump.
-The car begin to tremble and drift (and be uncontrollable) during high speed or boost.
-Maybe more i didn't discovered now.

The Chevy Blazer and the Clydesdale:

Same as for the Charger, the new Physic is awesome and they are more controllable as the originals ones. The boost seem to be ok.

Bugs:

-They flips when you jump.

L4D Trucks:

They are really more controllable that's awesome, the original ones was drifting too much and quickly being uncontrollable. The boost seem to be ok.

Bugs:

-They flips when you jump.

The ''Mad Max Poursuit Special":

Really more controllable, the original one was drifting too much and quickly being uncontrollable.

Bugs:

-Same as for the Charger, the boost make him uncontrollable.
-The car flip when you jump.

The Mothtruck:

Same as for the L4D truck, really more controllable now. The boost seem to be ok.

Bugs:

The truck flip when you jump.

The glitchy cars:

...ok...that's...ok...i guess...

Misc

The only things who disturb me a bit it's the camera for the trucks i find it a bit weird i think the normal camera like others cars would be better.

This is all for now, that's not alot but i hope that's gonna help a bit and i'll give my opinion on other cars soon and edit this post.

Personally i think you should keep both scripts, some people wouldn't like the new ones. The in-game notifications are not really annoying (my opinion)

(Sorry if i made mistakes, english is not my native language)

To Conclude:

The new scripts are awesome they give a realistic physic to the vehicles, making them heavier and more controllable. There is just maybe few bugs to fixes and some finitions to do and i guess it should be perfect.

For now i don't recommend you to replace the old scripts by the new ones, i'm actually the only one who gives his opinion and some people may not like the new cars and i probably missed some points.

Thanks SilverToaster that's very helpful feedback.

For the Charger I should be able to fix the trembling at high speed but making the boost not spin the car out will be harder. I wanted to make the boost very powerful at low speed so you can accelerate very quickly but unfortunately this makes it too powerful once you are already at high speed. I'll have to see what I can do.

As for the flipping, that is probably because of the countertorque factor, I need to set it high so that the car squats and dives with acceleration and braking but unfortunately it can flip the car when it's off the ground. You can avoid this by letting off the accelerator when you jump.

Assuming I can find the source model files for the clydesdale, blazer and trucks I will adjust the camera positions for all of them. I'm not sure when I will be able to do that but it will be probably after I release the Grand Am.

Hi! I'm glad this is helped you, like i said i just quickly tried the beta cars so i'm gonna post more feedbacks later.

I would like to know, is it bother you if i add you, i could maybe help you (i don't know how but...i can still try) and i would like to make some experimentations with the Charger: port it in SFM (not just by drag and drop but by decompiling and recompiling for SFM) i you don't want, no problems i'm ok with that.

Nice work and good luck for the Grand AM.

Yeah I don't mind, you can add me. I'm quite interested in seeing people use my models in new ways.

Been so long. Glad to see you back Master Chris. Been a very, very long time.

Glad to see you too Freemmaann, how goes work on VCMod?
free 20 Mar, 2015 @ 1:14pm
Well, when our old dev group split VCMod was around 500 lines of code.

Right now, after 5 years of work, it is 80 000 lines of code (+ 5000 for VC1).

This addon has got my whole familly out of debt, allowed me to go to college and has allowed me to start a life together with my GF by renting a small appartment.

Honestly in the end, if it wasnt for you, my familly would still be in debt and I would work some minimum wage job trying to make end's meet month to month.

But because of you I could start college, am supporting myself in life, started even my own tiny coding copany (pay 25% taxes..), met the love of my life and started my life together with her.

So yeah, what about you?

Impressive work, I wish I could have been as successful. Most of my time has been spent getting into debt with University fees, but it was a fun time, I met loads of great interesting people and I learned a lot so I think it was worth it.

As for actually making some money I am making a brand new car model for a friend which he is paying me some money to do. I'm getting more work together to make a brand new showreel and when I'm satisfied with it I'll start making some proper job applications. That's kind of why I'm restarting work on this pack, it's so that I can have some more work to put onto the showreel and hopefully add to my CV as well.

It will certainly look good in your portfolio.

I have talked to several people of our old dev group after noticing you have released an update.

Kind of feeling nostalgic at the moment honeslty.

Yeah it has been a really long while since I was properly involved in Gmod, I have been lurking on a few of the facepunch threads, mostly Lonewolfies cars. Is there a place were you all 'hang out', you know like a forum or page or wherever? I'm just wondering because we're now got TDM, Lonewolfie, SGM, Sped and even a couple of other people doing vehicle packs now, making cars from Forza drivable. I just thought there might be a place where you guys collaborate.

Not really. Each dev is independant. But everyone is friendly to each other.

Okay just as a little update I am currently doing some graphic design/animation work for my cousin and getting on with the UV mapping for the Grand Am so there probably won't be a handling update for at least a week.

Well, the one place where any of the car authors ever met was Liquified gaming/driving server, but about a month or two ago they closed it off to devote time to their new racing tournament server. The old sandbox one still runs, but it's just called "garry's mod server" and only half the addons work and it's usually deserted. The racing series server has a devoted community, but most of the car authors abandoned it asides from Dalax and occasionally Talon733. Also, as a comment for your vehicles, I always thought it would be nice if you could use the interior from Doc's driveable l4d vehicles (crappy as it is) and let us have first person and normal third person. Your custom camera alays felt restrictive and locked, but it gets an A for originality.
CBreezy  [developer] 25 Apr, 2015 @ 9:41pm
Yeah the cameras are high on the agenda to fix once I've finished the Grand Am, on that note I apologise for the total lack of activity recently but I've been swamped with work to do at home, fixing up the garden and generally helping with spring cleaning.

Kind of sad that the Liquified server is in a sorry state, sounds like it could of been fun, I may check out what's going on there later on but I have to admit my gaming time is exclusively focused on GTAV right now, I'm really loving it.

As for Doc's vehicles, i'll have to look into that, see if he's OK with me using his models. I certainly wouldn't consider using his work without permission.

Tested your vehicles ingame, the only real problem being when making tight turns, the steering often locks and sends you crashing into things. Also, what year Grand Am are you working on?
