1. Some Countries can, most cannot. This is because we dedicate a focus path for almost all ideologies for almost every Country (meaning you can become Communist, Fascist or Democratic as most countries through focuses. Non-aligned too, in some cases). You can enable Party Popularity Boosting in the Game Options, however.
2. Factions were made restrictive because it otherwise lead to gamebreaking and ridiculous situations, like minor local wars in Griffonia becoming world wars as the sides join the Equestrian and Changeling faction respectively. It's the recommend setting, but again, you can change this in the game options to allow Faction joining at any time for anyone.
4. Coups are pretty dumb because they easily lock a country of their focus tree if they have already chosen a path (like if you coup a Communist nation to become Fascist, which then could lock them out of all their political focuses that require them to be Communist).
Again, you can change this in the game settings.
5. You mean it's not over in an hour or two? Yes This is intentional and many people like that our mod provides more gameplay to enjoy rather than just be an easy World Conquest mod.
6. Changelings have focuses that give them Wargoals on the Griffonian Empire, Aquileia and Wingbardy for late game, and the Dread League will eventually start their Dark Crusade. You can tweak the custom game settings for the Dread League AI to set the timer for when they start the Black Crusade exactly. You can set it extremely early, normal, or late.
For 4. if that's the case that's indeed dumb. But I could have swore that while I was playing vanilla and I was during a coup as Imperial Germany the only reason I couldn't advance in my focus tree was because I was still during that coup.
For 5. I meant that for four hours the game remained in a stalemate and the AI kept developing huge amount of planes. I even let the game run for few hours while I was AFK just to see if the AI will somehow change behaviour. There were conflicting sides (by focus tree / story), yet they did not engage.
For 6. I don't remember how that particular game went for me, but their focus tree was already full. When I wrote these points, I already achieve the game over screen.
