The Saturnians
Npcs don't know how to react to the Saturnians so they die instead
Wasn't sure where to bring this up so i put it in the discussions. Apparently this is a common bug with race mods :tomate:

I'm not finding the cause. I'm thinking it's a compatibility issue. It's pretty easy to break dialog across the board.

I am going to need you to repeat the bug, (unless you haven't started the game back up since it happened) and post your log.

If you haven't posted a log before, please follow these instructions I stole from Starbound's discord:

Make sure Starbound has been completely closed, or is still closed after a crash

To find Starbound's files through Steam:
- Right-click Starbound from your Steam library
- Click 'Properties'
- Click the 'Local Files' tab
- Click the 'Browse Local Files' button
- Enter the 'Storage' folder
- If on Windows, do this to enable file name extensions: https://i.imgur.com/HMKsNYb.png

- Open Starbound.log in Notepad++ or similar (NOT DEFAULT NOTEPAD) https://i.imgur.com/913PMfv.png

- Copy the contents onto http://pastebin.com/ - Put the link to the log here.

I traveled back to a Glitch castle and start walking around and interacting with the few survivors of the first unintentional slaughter. When i went there this time, i managed to kill one more at the gates.

Oh, darn. All this is saying is that a mod did not patch in guard dialog right. A modder probably forgot a comma somewhere. It works on my end, so I don't think my mod is the cause here. Sorry I couldn't help!

I both love and hate that Starbound's solution to NPCs trying to use broken dialog files is to blow them up. Something less permanent would have probably been nice though.
I am having this issue, but I think it compounded by combining with FU and is causing ALL npcs to explode, a conflict I think with bmain.lua in FU and converse.config.patch here (possibly), the converse file looked like it may have syntax errors (I don't know how much starbound cares about tabs)
