Life Cycle? I think there is so much more to build on cosidering both have life cycles.
I think that we could have them change from new borns to frogs for megas, and have the frogs become Bullfrogs when they become MEGAs, also with the bugs you could have them start off in a semi pupal state, then as fully armoured insects, and they could get like wings or somthing when they become MEGAs.

by new borns I mean tadpoles that have developed all 4 legs(called froglett) then to frogs and then to bullfrogs, meanwhile the insects could start out in a meal worm like state(fopr this we might have to fantasy and get like half armoured insects), then they could evolve into full fleged adult insects, and after that they could get beetle or butterfly wings
