Really? Reactors as nuclear bombs?
So I had an insect infestation directly under my reactor. Normally, I'd just open up dev mode and smite the insects, and their nests, off the map (since, you know, pesticide is a thing IRL.) Unfortunatly, they destroyed my reactor when they popped out. The nuclear reactor promptly turned into a nuclear bomb and blew up the ENTIRE nuclear power plant I had built. Reactor, seperate storage room, turbine, transformer, everything.

This is NOT how reactors function in real life. This mod, at least on the surface, seemed to prompt realism. A reactor breech is not going to destroy concrete walls and an entire granite mountain.

Cue reloading a 30 minute old autosave. Glad I don't play ironman.

I know right? Sure a reactor will definitely release radiation if something goes horribly wrong (see chernobyl & fukushima) but it would never under any circumstances explode like a bomb.

I don't know, have you heard of Chernobyl?

The insect infestations are one thing but the idea of nuclear reactors exploding is not absurd in general.

Chernobyl was a pressure explosion in what was, essentially, a glorified sheet metal shed. That's a far cry from leveling an entire mountain.

don't build under overhead mountains, that way no insects can spawn and destroy your reactor :)

Well the hydrogen for certain can cause explosions and the pressure too, now its a question of distances, but it might not be realistic for one reactor to take all others down, but then the whole meltdown thing is not realistic either everything is rather easy its not like you know fu kushima where you cannot even get the fuel rods out and decomission the reactor, and *should* abandon the whole area several kilometers around it because its radiation poisoned.
