10 new classes over 200+ new abilities, help requested.
Hi Everyone,

I’m posting here because I’ve used this mod and it worked for me, so thanks! Also, I thought if anyone can help me with this endeavor it’s probably this community, but I’m open for suggestions to other sources as well.

I’ve designed the following 10 new classes with over 200+ New Abilities with LW2 in mind, though most of them can be integrated/tweaked to work with WOTC.

Ace – Solo Operative designed to barely win missions when deployed solo. Aces have powerful abilities only when they are alone or with 1 other soldier. With 4+ soldiers on a mission this soldier has only 1 action each turn.

President – Can recruit and equip civilians on the map with his unique Duffle Bag secondary. Thematically this class has “Liberal”, “Misc”, and “Conservative” ability columns with abilities that match each political party’s Hot Topics in real life, primarily US with some global ideologies as well. You can be a Second Amendment Communist if you desire, haha. Completely original class.

Ex-Pilot – Completely original class expanding dramatically on the Recon Class’s final ability “Airstrike” by Shadow Ops for LW2. This new version makes a whole class built on managing your Supplies and bombing in different ways. It’s also about surviving between turns while waiting for your next airstrike to land (all airstrikes have a turn and a half delay unless you want to spend more supplies to make them arrive sooner).

Gunfighter – Assault/Ranger/Infantry alternative with quite a few new abilities.

Looter – Grenadier alternative with looting abilities.

Master Chef – Technical alternative with lots of new abilities.

Surgeon – Sniper & Gremlin class with some new abilities.

Clone – Clones are more powerful the more clones there are on a mission. All of their basic abilities are shared among all Clones on the mission. Most Clone abilities are very weak but stack with every other clone that has those same abilities on the mission.

Infected – A virus spreads through the XCom ship, slowly infecting soldiers seemingly at random. In its final stages it is lethal, and there’s no cure. This is a negative class to balance out more powerful ones. It cannot be trained and it grows based on the number of Infected in your ship. Infected can be powerful in numbers, but all units who become Infected are guaranteed to die eventually, it’s only a matter of time.

Deck Builder – Our evolution of the alien’s technology has given us the ability to empower cognitive implants which grant high level tactical maneuvers for our Deck Builders in the field. It comes at a cost however, as its power source is unstable, requiring strong degrees of mental fortitude for specific amounts of time to prevent its power source from overloading. This class changes the way the game is played ability-wise, turning it into a kind of card-game for this soldier.

So, I need your help. How should I begin? Anyone is welcome to take these classes as they are and start building them – but you may not know how or want to do that.
I’m asking for help.

- I’ve found no tutorials on making a LW2 class from scratch.
- Haven’t seen a good perk-making tutorial out there.

I want to know what everything in the code does, and right now it all looks like Greek to me. I’ve spent some time trying things, but I haven’t gotten anywhere.

All help is GREATLY appreciated, I've never coded in Unreal apart from changing numbers here and there.

If anyone wants to team-up,
My main skills right now are making new abilities (and then balancing them through testing). I can also make the 200+ icons for my new abilities in Photoshop and Illustrator, I just need to know the dimensions for Class and Perk icons and color, etc..

All help appreciated.

If we could make just ONE of these classes, I would be so happy. And if I can learn how you/we did it, then maybe I can create more of these on my own if need-be.

Found this Imgur Page [imgur.com], which answers my question about icon dimensions (64x64 for class icons and 32x32 for skills/hotbar icons, in case anyone's curious).

Still no really helpful tutorials on making a new perk.

@sTiNg_RaY yes, thanks I've used his tutorial and I'm using his XModBase, both have been very helpful. 3 new abilities working, only 200+ to go! Haha.

Hi MrMister, I made the Solo Operative class for LW2 and WOTC. Then I made Knight, Bishop, and Rook for WOTC and RPGO. I'm done making mods for XCOM 2 for now.

Anyone is welcome to advance any of the class ideas in my design document, I do ask that you mention me in the Credits/description if you recreate any of my ideas.
