UNITS Discussion
Hey guys!! There are many issues with units, so let's talk about what you think is best!

So please post the Faction! Name of unit, what is the specific issue with the unit, and how it should be fixed! Please be as specific as you can, so that I can get it correct. Of course I will take my liberties with the unit as well.

That is fine, I will get you up to par! :) unit modding will be the easiest way to learn.

I have started the unit rebalancing, OMG this is gonna take awhile, because I cannot believe how messed up units are. I have started with germanic generals and there are some really bad screw ups so far. Like the Burgandian guard. They would get slaughters very quickly against levies!

@fingolfin, I honestly think I will have to do this myself but you are more than welcome to help me test balances and such if you would like to be an official beta tester.

@Xeryx
Yeah thats cool, Im still gonna start learning mods anyway, for my own devices. But sure, as i siad im happy to help in whatever way. If you need someone to pours hours into campaigning with your mods to flesh them out, thats fine :-) its what i do anyway lol

Sure, and I am here to help for sure, it just so happens this unit modding is not nearly as easy as I thought it was going to be. It is really quite hard to make sure everything is the way it should be, to be balanced and the units really are a mess. I have to seperate it all out, and that is not easy.

WOW! what a difference, I finished the Franks and the common germanic units. 14 hours just to do them and balance other battle AI stuff. When I finish the germanic tribes, I will put up the new versions 2.0 for you to test. I think you will really like the difference. Battles are longer too!

Awesome. Looking forward to it mate.
Anymore thoughts on what would be making the whole puppet state thing with WRE happen? i started another campaign and it was the same thing. just vassaled every, one settlement faction, within the first 10 turns..

Well when I can get to it I will, in the the mean time just because you can do it doesn't mean you should. Don't do it

Could I help test the 2.0 as well?

Sure, it is going to be a bit of a slow process. But once i finish the germanic tribes. You guys can play battles to test balance of units. So far i am about halfway done.

Nothing good comes of haste :-)

Having played this mod for a while, another thought that has come to mind is that perhaps more advanced or veteran units might do well if they had a higher recruitment cost. One of my friends was playing and he remarked that a problem with the stock game and many mods is that units tend to have a low difference in cost and are generally are too easy to "regenerate" [build from scratch] in a low amount of time. I haven't played enough to know this myself, but it does sound like a good idea.

Hi!
Are Hunnic Mounted Bows supposed to have 160 range or is it a mistake? It was 150 in vanilla. In comparison, for my Germanic Bows it was 150 in vanilla and is still 150 with the mod. If it is intended, what are the ways of dealing with them? They can just run away from my cav and stay out of range of my archers...
