Want to use my mod for your own mod?
Want to add your own companions or followers for your own mod, This mod has a lot of logic already figured out, from leaving combat to switching maps to their follow logics and it isn't hard to integrate your own custom companions (I made sure of that one). So let me know here.

Hi Roach. Great work! I am GM-ing my own world and would like to be able to add companions to my players.

I would like to be able to create an NPC or Pet and then make that NPC/Pet a companion.

It could be one that the player controls entirely, but also the option to just be an NPC that follows the player and joins in combat as an ordinary NPC-ally would be great.

Hmmm well not imposible I don't know exactly how the GM mode works as to assigning scripts to characters and setting flags (I am pretty sure you don't have access to both)

It does seem like it is a feature that has been requested before a few times but this mod would only work in the story campaign. So I am sorry to say that I cannot help you.

I understand. I am trying to get it to work now through different threads in forums and the help from people there. Amazingly it seems very tricky to get it to work, and this for a function I feel could and should be easily implemented as a on the fly-choice in DM mode.

If I had the time I would have loved to help you as I might know where to look but as it stands I hardly have enough time to work on this mod.

But if you ever figure out how to set flags in GM mode then my mod would work quite well for you as it also takes into account Level changes and such which would normally be a problem.

I know it's outdated, but can you make any quick brief about it?
I'm trying to add an dog companion for a quest reward.
and I'm not that good at coding,so I really need some help.

It's no longer outdated ;)

I don't know if you simply have access to the Story goals and Character behaviours if you donload it. But if you have then there is some directions as to how to use it.

Else just let me know and I can see what you want and how you want it.

mod is currently under construction so I can't say it for sure, we're planning to add an
non-combatable, scripted hound companion as a side character such as yours

the player will get him by finishing the quest, and given by reward giver
(not selecting)

So can it be? any tutorial that we might can get?

Should be doable yeah. I can just send you the code. It is very easy to have a character follow another, but it becomes more trickey when you take things into account: Switching levels, Using Waypoints, stealth, combat, contacting death fog etc. All those things need to have logic (Which the mods has and I can send those lines of codes techinically).

What do you want to happen for example when the dogs master enters combat (in this mod they are just "set off stage" if they do not join in combat else weird things might happen).

Another thing you can do is make this mod a neccesarry mod for yours then you are done with 1 line of code and a dialog option. But that would you your choice ;)

pretty tempting about including your mod!
but what we are planning is standalone-campaign so we might just do as we planned.

do you remember the black chicken in driftwood?
we're planning to make one just like that, but without any tragic at the end.

If your generous enough sending those code It will be much helpful
but If it's hard, we just need any tutorial for it.

Hahaha yeah I designed and scripted that quest (I was a scripter for a while at Larian ;) ) though the ending was not my call.

As long as you credit me I am fine with it ;). I can't help you today (17/06/2018) but just tell me when and how and I will help you along. (I accepted your friend request)


(For those interested I will probably also just post the slightly edited script in a post so you can use it ;) )

Dude, that's really cool! that part is one of my favorites!!

about helping us, we need to spend one or two weeks to start making companions...
