Tl;Dr The music note idea is a very good one and I wouldn't complain if it was added but I don't think it's nessisary for the skin to work.
P.s: please don't use the word "weeb" it means something COMPLETELY different to what you think it does. and I for one do not consider myself japanese nor do I disown my own culture for that of anime.
I know exactly what the term means. Despite it not being an actual term.. But I changed it on the basis that you said "please."
It needs to be changed. It's hair. It's glowing hair. And it bends randomly at the top. It just doesn't make any sense. I'd prefer tennogen not step too far outside the boundries of the Warframe Universe. You'd get the same idea that he's copying a famous anime character regardless if the twin tails looked like strands of hair, or not.
Just stop. You basically repeated what I already put in the OP. And you'd have to be crazy to not see that it's actual pink strands of hair that randomly bend at the top of the design.
It needs to be changed.
here is the way I see it, just cause YOU don't personally like some thing does not at all give you a right to say another person can't have it because it what. breaks your emersion? ♥♥♥♥ out mate, there is no "emersion" in warframe, in reality you are not in a space ninja shooter you can't be come immersed in this game like one based off history, this is fantasy.
Now go take your bias, elitist opinion else where.
I'm for the skin buut I have to say, this is kinda constructive critisism. I wouldn't say that SpaceButler is bias in the way you imply. They have an opinion and they gave an alternative that ultimately COULD help the skin. As I said before, I both agree with bits and disagree with other points they made but I really don't feel like he's just saying the skin is flat out bad. If you disagree completely then give something constuctive rather than just insult. (I for one do get quite emersed myself into the lore and prospective of the tenno).
(Also, thanks for the change :P space butler, yes it's slang but i just dislike being called a "weeb" just because I enjoy anime from time to time).
Warframe dose not have a set in stone look each frame that comes out shatters that idea completely. if we went by that logic there would only be frames that look like the original frames. and that would get extremely boring, we only get amazing things because people branch out like this creator here.
Spacebutter did not say it as a suggestion, he said it as an absolute. "the hair needs to be changed" is saying his opinion tops all others, when he can go eat a ♥♥♥♥ pavlova if he thinks that way.
No offense, but you have incorrect grammar/spelling mistakes in a lot of your writing. Dont try to pull "oh oh but im from a different country/speak a different launguage"! Your profile is private, yet your major point in all of this is that "I am a vetran even though I wont let you see if I have been or not"
The hair texture is the problem. It doesnt look like fake hair, it looks pretty much like real hair to me. The color doesnt fade and it has streaks in it to make it more realistic
And none of the warframes have actual strands of hair. You don't have to play a game for several years to notice that the textures on a mesh look like something in particular. My opinion is that it needs to be changed to fit the warframe aesthetic. It's not a demand. I'm not forcing the author to do anything. And I can't. It's more of a plea than anything.
Also, quit insulting me. I'd rather your filthy words not toxicate my thread.
Lastly,
Though the argument is slightly different, the resolve would be the same. I'm content with the idea that he is at least going to look into it.
I dunno though, I'm not a dev, or a modder, lol. I will say, I like the idea of giant flowing energy twintails, and NOT more energy ribbons.
So I have a couple of stylistic solutions that will both work and perhaps even improve the design. Personally, I have no problem. The "hair" for all we know could be tubes of resonating fibres that help disperse sound, but that probably won't satisfy the userbase.
I was checking other frames for similar things - flowy extensions, etc. I came across Wukong. Flowing energy through what appears to be translucent tubes. We also have things like that one syndana that continually displays corpus financial data.
I also noticed the swirling concentric rings of Octavian "music" in the relays ( http://i.imgur.com/P5bVtXz.jpg ). It gave me an idea.
Why not incorporate these in place of the flowing tubes that look like hair? Particularly if the tubes are concentric in nature, rather than straight like Wukong's "pigtails" - It would keep the silhouette the same, but lend itself more to Warframe's aesthetic. You're still going to touch on the subconscious reference to Miku - a virtual diva - but this is clearly, completely Octavia. And completely warframe. I suspect it was intentional to draw some kind of parallel between the two.
The Octavian music clusters lend themselves to curls, too. Sounds good, no? Perhaps DE can help loan you the textures, or you can rip them yourself from your GPU's cache if you feel like digging through _____ other files.
Other possibilities include a flowing piano roll (not traditional musical notation - this is a machine after all) a la corpus financial data, or some such similar thing.
Exactly like this. In my daily life, I'm both an artist and developer, though not for DE of course. Seeing this kind of feedback makes me think it's a potentially brilliant choice for our content creator to make!
