How do you change the skins
I've been seeing that a lot of people are having trouble changing the skins myself included and was wondering if someone could elaborate on how to do this

Well, it's not really this hard. Just go to Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/262060 - that's location of all DD mods. Then you just go to folder with mod you want to change and there's gonna be bunch of files and folders. One of them is default version of the mod and another should be named like "Special edit". There are variations of skins. You should pick skins you like, rename them into default names and put them into folder with actual mod, replacing default ones (i.e. campaign/town/town_event/town_event_character.png).

Nope, they all work. I was getting achievements with new heroes from mods.

wait, rename them? like, to what?

rename them to the original names that are in the game.
i.e. [in example]

if the character has a. lets call it .png archive cuz i dont know what type of files are, and its named "Crusader.png" and your mod has a same picture but named "ALT_Crusader.png"
you need to rename the "ALT_Crusader.png" to "Crusader.png" and replace the original file.

**REMEMBER YOU NEED TO BACK UP ALL THE STUFF YOU ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE**
you can still just copy and replace the files or whatevs, if you uninstall any mod they WILL remain there if you changed the files directly, and you will NEED to uninstall the whole game and reinstall it to fix any mods leftovers.

most games that allow mods denies achievements, so far to knowldege any game that has an option called "IRONMODE / IRONMAN" has a restrictions to any mods [Stellaris does this to not win a game with mods in normal or ironmode games with mods, checking the load info from mods and the game itself]

for Darkest Dungeon is sure you will get achievemnts even having mods that breaks totally the game in your favour, mostly cuz tbh the game can be soooo damn hard.
you can even get achievements on the easiest dificulty levels

wait so i have to rename them individually? bruh that's so much extra work, i downloaded one mod and i realise that discripiton said i have manually rename all the special edit and put them into the campaign folder? and it's so confusing becuase the campaign folder contain mutiple differnet folders and i am not sure where i am suppose to drop the special edit version into. and the specail edit folders doesn't say "alt_something" i

You should just replace files in the mod's folder. Usually it's quite obviously which files from mos's special folder to replace files of mod's main structure.
