VERY Bipolar problem concerning hats behind hairstyles
Screw it, I don't want to needlessly spam the comment section so I'm just opening a discussion in hopes that someone somewhere knows what is happening here.

Until around one hour ago I had the problem that ALL headpieces were rendered behind the hairstyles of the pawns. Only difference were the "don't shave your head" hairstyles. After disabling "Pawn Render Patch HD" it SEEMED that the problem was gone since I got to render all types of hats in front of the hair. As it should be.

Now, after half an hour of creating new pawns and starting the game I found out the new major problem:

ONLY TWO of my three starting pawns have the magical ability of wearing their hats in front of their hair. The third one has the usual problem of the hairstyles covering the hats. I spawned in many pawns and equipped them with headpieces and it seems that all of them have the usual problem.

So there are indeed two godlike beings who can wear hats like a normal human person. So the system seems to work...but practically speaking it still does not work.

I'll mess around with the pawns for a while and see if I can figure out what the hell is happening. If someone reads this and might have an idea on how to solve this...please....please do. I'm going crazy.


--- Phase 1: Find out if the problem is gender related ---

So I tried to use EdB to create a male and female version of every of my three colonists. No difference. The two pawns that can wear their hats do so regardless of gender while the one unable to wear his hat right does so no matter what gender he is. So I would rule out a strict gender problem.

Nope. Once again I used EdB to remove all traits of my three pawns. The problem persists.


--- Phase 3: Find out if the problem is related to the sequence of pawns being created on pawn creation startup ---

Again a clear no. All Pawns that get created on pawn selection somehow get this problem now. It's only my two Pawns Siri and Dawn that seem to be able to wear their hat in front of their hair.


--- Phase 4: Blow EVERYTHING up ---

Now I have unloaded ALL mods aside from Show Hair with Hats, Harmony, and Vanilla Framework Expanded.

Now stuff is getting interesting and - of course - God King Tynans beautifully crafted new pawn rendering magnum opus is DEFINITELY the culprit. Or better...the LACK thereof. As soon as I unchecked "Disable Texture Caching" in the Vanilla Expanded Framework, all pawns wore their hats in front of their hair. Which means that you indeed have to decide wether:

A) You want pixelated, muddy freaks of Nature as Pawns (as our lord and saviour wills it) by accepting the new pawn rendering and thus getting the privilege of not losing all hair while wearing a top hat,

B) You find workarounds to get rid of the new Pawn rendering and have all your pawns wearing hats go through chemo therapy and lose all their hair

C) Use a workaround to get rid of the new pawn rendering and use this mod but alas all hats are rendered behind the pawns hair (If you are not called Siri and Dawn that is I still have NO clue how things work for those two)

D) Do the same as above but just hide ALL hats. Period. At least you get the stats. Dunno.

Same as in "I also have pawns that somehow are able to wear hats normally while others don't" or as in "My pawns also wear their hats behind their heads"?

My pawns didn't wear their hair properly, it literally clipped through helmets (on all of them), although, I tested recently how it goes without check on texture caching in VEF and it started to work properly, moreover, I don't see changes in quality of renders because hd pawn rendering still working properlish (?), gonna look what it gonna do to my game, but so far (3 hours of gameplay) going good, excluding a little spike in RAM usage but I would say that it is more of 400 mods list fault. So yeah, thanks for your thorough examining I kinda found a solution for me.

As i've mentioned many times including in the mod's description. this mod does not change on which layer a hat is rendered, only whether a hat will be drawn. If there are issues with a hat being behind hair, look to any other mods that change how pawns are drawn and ask there.
