Love this overall but the crucifix face is a dealbreaker
Quick disclaimer, I'm not religious so this isn't coming from a place of being offended by use of religious symbolism.

Honestly, the crucifix detail on the face breaks the immersion of this skin too much for me. There's a lot of mythological figures inspiring warframes, it's true, but that iconagraphy is a bit too direct imo and distracts from the rest of the skin.

I love the general idea of holes being punched into the facemask. I'd either add a fourth hole above the existing cross so both the top and bottom are 2 holes each, or I'd perhaps stagger the sides so they're somewhat offset, maybe even adding a few others eg:

--o
o--o
--o
o--o
--o
--o

Anyway, those are just my thoughts.

its a fair point and its the one thing I expect pushback on if theres any feedback from DE. so an alternative is already prepared.

I personally like it. The game takes place in our solar system so anything used in the past can be used in the game imo.

Personally, I think it's just fine. Let's not be overly sensitive to symbols that occur in Earth's religious history for game lore, yeah? By your logic, there should be no Inaros and surely no Anubis helmet just for starters. I mean, that's one of the things I love about that frame is exactly what you're complaining about here.

I think this skin looks absolutely amazing and wouldn't hesitate going Tennogen prices for it. In fact, I'll be looking for it.
it doesnt break immersion lol

I'd be interested in seeing that!

Agreed, the skin is gorgeous, and I hope it gets accepted. However, I might as well give feedback on what my gut tells me.

Like I said in the original post, this isn't about anyone being offended or overly sensitive. The crucifix is simply a much more prevalant and dominant symbol in modern culture than Anubis or the fairies Oberon/Titania or Sun Wukong or Nezha, etc. Those are all folklore and mythological figures, and constantly inspire new interpretations such as the ones we see in the game.

Something like the crucifix, a symbol that plays an active role in modern day life regardless of your views towards it thanks to how downright pervasive Christianity is, well... All I can say is that I, personally, am distracted and drawn out of my immersion seeing it incorporated in this skin, which is a shame given how gorgeous it is.

You find a crucifix on inquisitor frame immersion breaking? And not the self flagellation or censer
swinging? :nonplussed_creep:

I don't know why. Harrow's noble animation literally has him making a crucifix with dual pistols.

god i really hope this one wins by far the best thing i've ever seen on workshop and it fits the game

That isn't true. Those beings in some way shape or form are and or were very real to a group of people. Deeming them very relevant/prevelant, espescially nezha and wukong.

If I'm not making sense then think of it like this. If Jesus was put in warframe based on descriptions and depictions we have, would that be right? If not then why is Nezha and wukong in there?
They are gods or some sort of other spiritual/religious being to someone. Just because it's not as known does that really make it right to use it in such a way? What may be fake/myth/etc for you may be/isn't fake/myth/etc for others, wherever they may be.

Just push the boundaries and hope for the best, and maybe I'm just an idiot but my idea about the face lights really weren't "Oh look the cross". To be honest I really just took/take it as a random design, which was probably the best choice and most interesting for the space provided lol.
Dilemmas 3 Nov, 2017 @ 4:35am
I don't think it's of much consequence; Harrow actually already does a crucifix-esque emote with his noble dual-pistols idle.

You might feel this is a little less direct, but it gives me the feeling DE is on board with a certain amount of this kind of iconography, unless it's too heavy-handed (which I think a fully fledged cross would have been but this is just an arangement of lights).

yeah pretty much this, it was a natural fit for the space.

how is everyone so perceptive though? i didn't even notice until it was pointed out by this topic! what else have i glossed over man what else don't i know
OnlyFlans 3 Nov, 2017 @ 4:12pm
Why the hell is that particular arrangement of lights, which happens to look a bit like a crucifix, distracting? For all you know it's supposed to represent the Southern Cross.
HolyDeadSL 3 Nov, 2017 @ 4:17pm
I think it fits the grineer agenda to have a cross kinda, like "they want to control others through a means of religon with the warframe they captured" lol, I mean honestly it fits for the type of frame harrow is anyway, no need to be uptight about a cross let it ride man.
CrusaderF8 3 Nov, 2017 @ 7:13pm
I litterally didn't even notice it until it was pointed out, I don't think it's that big of a deal.
